Times-Union readers want to know: Is it true that Mitt Romney closed down his firm, Bain Capital, and flew 30 workers to New York to look for the missing daughter of one of his colleagues? The fact-finding groups PolitiFact.com, Snopes.com and Truthorfiction.com all rate this as true, and media reports of the day confirm much of the details of the viral email.

The parents, who were there, talk about Romney’s compassion and caring. Were you there? I think his parents know a little more about the situation then you.

Yes Im glad you mentioned the parents and thus opened that stuck tight door...
Several people very familiar with the “services” in the Mormon religion have commented on how much like a Sunday morning “testimony” service that was...
That the parents just repeated by rote what they had said time and time again...
monotone voices, scared uncomfortable out of their element looks etc...
granted Willard had written the script for them and they just read it of the teleprompter like every other “witness”
But they read it as though they had repeatedly praised Willard over the years and knew their parts by heart...
I thought that the starngest thing for people to go into their religious services and instead of worshipping their god, they worship some man and butter him up...
Then a Mr Marriott might have been a son of Willard Marrard for whom Romney is named for, the Mormon owner of the hotels, he got up in a Mormon service one day by the Romneys lake and he starts in praising Willard...
Dont Mormons ever worship a deity ???
so that wasnt so unusual after all..
Back to the parents...Willard was their bishop in the Mormon religion and they were under pressure to perform on his behalf at the convention...
Why didnt the boys own father write our a will for him...
Anyone could have done this...
Willard graduated from a law school but as far as I know just like Obama he has never had a license to practice law...
was he acting as a lawyer ???
No...theres been no evidence that he was...
I wonder if he ever gave food to the family or helped them pay their medical bills ???
No...no evidence of that either...
Although thats what real pastors usual do...
Just that one visit to a dying boy to help him make a will...
What a ghoul Willard is...
The difference between someone who takes charge and does something because - It is the right thing to do!!! and someone who calls it a suboptimal result that 4 Americans were killed for their country because no one cared about their safety (especially Obama) and then lied about it for 3 weeks.
I don’t take anyone that calls me “kid” seriously. I think some of the other posters are right— you got a seriously bad batch of moonshine.
ou act like Romney just did this because he had to, in his Mormon bishop position.

Knowing Willard he probably did ..
but why would you think he wouldnt have ???
Are you talking about the Mormon members he refused to help beccause he could get away with it ???
Like the poor members ???
Like the unmarried mothers he ignored ???
Like the black members ???
and the people outside the Mormon religion ???
The non-members ???
I guess you can’t control yourself in regards to language.
As far as JR, I don’t recall him saying anything about freepers having to pretend that they can stomach the scum bag Mitt, just because they are going to pull the lever for him.
If you have something to say post address the freeper himself, don’t hide.
What is it that you disagree with in one of my posts?
You think it would have been easier for the boys father to write the will? Are you nuts? We had an attorney friend write my mothers, and it tore me up, but it was necessary. I can write a will but it would have been really hard to write my own mothers. She’s still alive, and at 79 an excellent Catholic who proudly will cast her vote for Mitt Romney.
If you start in on Catholicism or my mother, we’ll really have problems.
I’m trying not to respond— I can’t help myself when I see such... We’ll leave it at that!
? What did that have to do with post 14?
Do you know the thread topic, and did you read the clarification in post 14?
Spot on Life before money Vs politics before truth.
Why didn’t you ping JR with that last post? You’re always telling everyone how they just have to address any comments to anyone mentioned in the post. Hypocrite.
Team Obama is very grateful for your support.
“Knowing Willard he probably did..”
So you know Mitt Romney?
Or do you just know the voo doo doll you created of him to stick needles in and chant over?
Seriously, don’t post behind peoples backs by not pinging them, and no, I don’t hate Mormons, of course you would use that falsehood rather than know that the cult Mormonism is disapproved of by all Christian denominations and hopefully all Christians. It is how Pope John II made his decision on Mormonism.
To quote the Catholics:
By following all the rules and ordinances of God here, Mormon men and women have the potential of also becoming gods (by first becoming a good Mormon, paying a full ten percent tithe to the Mormon church, and follow various laws and ordinances of the church). As god once was, man is. As God is, man may become (Joseph Smiths words). Mormons believe that there are many worlds and many gods. Each god is similar to God the Father, having the same powers and omnipotence, and even being able to create their own worlds. Heavenly Father is only the name of the god who rules over this world.
There is a point of no return with cancer that sadly is reached to many times, especially 30 years ago when this happened.

Have you never know anyone to be healed of cancer ???
on their deatth bed ???
Is there a list of people even one whgo Willartd prayed for while he was a “pastor” and they were healed of cancer ???
Heale3d of anything ???
Tjuose a re the feel good stories I like to hear...
When the parents started to talkjed about their son having cancer i thought they were going to say Willard had laid hands on him and he was healed...
I thought the kid would come out from behind the curain...
I was a bit confused as to the point of the story or why they were even there when no it wasnt about a healing...
strange story...unnecessary death of a 14 year old boy...
God is in the healing business...
The LORD Jesus Christ took a whipping and has stripes upon His back for our healing ...
if wee want to be healed..
If er want to just not believe God and go on and die we can do that...
God doesnt stop us..He just feels sorry for us...
Jesus said to the SyroPhenecian woman “Healing is the children’s BREAD”
Now not everyone is a child of God and she wasnt not being a Jew...
He was calling her a dog ...
But she spoke about the crumbs that fall from the children’s table that the little dogs eat...
She was talking about faith and Jeus rewarded her faith and healed her daughter...
So although Christians are entiltled to that same healing as Jews, having been born again and adopted as children of God and grafted into the vine, anyone else with faith can be healed too...
even the 14 year old son of unbelieving Mormon parents...
Kathrine Kuhlman used to go to big hals to preachthe Gospel and pray for people to be saved and healed and delivered from devils...
She was preaching oine cold wonters night in a hall and it was snowing outside...
The street walkers would stop into the lobby to get warm..
One could hear Kathrine speaking about jesus being our healer and she asked one of the men when he stepped out of the auditorium about it...
She sadi that she was sick in her body and needed healing ..she asked if what that lady was sayoing was right and would jesus healed anyone, even a prostitute like her...
The man said yes Jesus woould heal her if she believed He would...
The street walked said OK she believed that Jesus would heal her...
and she was instantly healed...
did ehs repent and get saved ???
No she went back out into the night and the street afgain, but she was miraculously healed...
Amazing Grace is just like that...
Theres nothing spiritual or hiogh minded or superior about dying of a disease when you dont have to...
What are you going to do if you just happen to see Jesus ???
Ask Him why He didnt heal you ???
all He will do is quietly turn around anbd let His robe slip down so you can see the wounds on His back...
Now you mentioned 30 years...
well its been 17 years since Jesus healed me of cancer...
and i was on the cancer ward when it happened...
In hospital to have an operation to take out my vocal cords to slow it down...
But i had my death sentence and there was no hope ...
Ah except for jesus ...
Over 3 weeks they preparted mer for the operation 4 times and each time they put it off for a feww more days...
I kept telling them I needed my vocal cords to preach and sing and worship my Jesus and they woulod say ...now get this because its important what other people say to you and about you...
they would say “OK dear Whatever you say”
abnd I would say “I say Jesus is healing me. I shall live and not die”
They would turn away shaking their heads but i was full of joy and believing that my LORD Jesus was fixin to give me a miracle...the miracle I had prayed for and believed for for many months as the cancer got worse and worse and they fginally said no hope...
My husband would bring our little children down to the hospital in the weekends and they needed me...
children nedd their mothers...
its not God’s plan to deprive little children of their Mommies or Daddies...
thats a dumb idea from the pits of Zhell...
Anyhoo i said all that because someone needed to read what a real testimony is and needs to know that Jesus will heal them too...
HEY!!!
if He will heal me whom you think so inferior to your own superior self, why hasnt He healed you oh high and mighty ???
Well its not His idea or fault ...
Its you and that unbelieving building you go to on Sundays...
Hes done EVERYTHING needed to heal you...
You dont have to get good enough...He died for those sins of yours...
You just have to believe that He will...
Its unfortunate that that poor 14 year old boy didnt have someone around him that knew that...
I didn’t ping JR for probably the same reason you didn’t, it seems silly to ping him to every non-significant mention of him as freerepublics owner, he would receive constant pings.
EXACTLY. But you always make a big deal out of it if it’s someone else that doesn’t do it.
Willard instead goes and helps the boy WRITE HIS WILL...
Thats the most calous unsympathetic thing I ever heards of...
instead of bringing comfort and life to the boy he encouraged him to die...
someone ought to tell Willard that if he is going to steal the valor of a real pastor he might want to at least pretend and go through the motions...
I never heard of a real pastor helping someone write a will...
Are so embittered with life that you pervert and twist this story for your own validation? For substantiation of some erroneous belief? To disagree, with Gov Romney for whatever reason is perfectly acceptable. Yet to set forth a twisted slant of the mans contributions, of peace, comfort, caring, to the boys family has a Saul Alinsky touch to it.
To paraphrase Paul Harvey heres the rest of the true story .
The most extraordinary story of the GOP convention
Byron York,,, Chief Political Corresponden
Washington Examiner, August,31 ,2012
Emphasis mine
Ted and Pat Oparowski, a couple who lived in Medford, Massachusetts in the 1970s. They knew Romney from church, and when their 14 year-old son David was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease in 1979, Romney visited the boy regularly. They developed a loving friendship, Pat Oparowski said, recounting the many times Romney came to see her and her son.David Oparowskis cancer was terminal. During one visit, Mrs. Oparowski recalled, David, knowing Mitt had gone to law school at Harvard, asked Mitt if he would help him write a will. He had some prize possessions that he wanted to make sure were given to his closest friends and family. The next time Mitt went to the hospital, he was equipped with his yellow legal pad and pen. Together, they made Davids will. That is a task that no child should ever have to do. But it gave David peace of mind. So after Davids death, we were able to give his skateboard, his model rockets, and his fishing gear to his best friends. He also made it clear that his brother Peter should get his Ruger .22 rifle. How many men do you know who would take the time out of their busy lives to visit a terminally ill 14 year old and help him settle his affairs?
David also helped us plan his funeral, Pat Oparowski continued. He wanted to be buried in his Boy Scout uniform. He wanted Mitt to pronounce his eulogy, and Mitt was there to honor that request. We will be ever grateful to Mitt for his love and concern.
It was an extraordinary story, seldom mentioned in the press, and it left many in the hall in tears. You cannot measure a mans character based on the words he utters before adoring crowds during times that are happy, said Ted Oparowski. The true measure of a man is revealed in his actions during times of trouble the quiet hospital room of a dying boy, with no cameras and no reporters.
I was not a supporter of Gov Romney in any way. Thought the lesser of two evils was still evil. As of this past Summer was going to leave the Presidential ballot block unchecked. But I have since learned more about Gov Romney, more about his persona, more about his humanness.
My father’s best friend died of Cancer at 35 and there was nothing that could be done after a certain stage. His family prayed, we prayed, he was a wonderful man but knew it was his time to go, and that God had made that decision. He made a Will. Sometimes God’s answer to your prayers is to call you home and relieve your earthly pain. But in your twisted logic you make it sound like Romney made a Will for the boy and did nothing to comfort him or to pray for him. How the heck would you know that? I’m glad your cancer is in remission and is hopefully completely gone, that doesn’t mean good people don’t succumb to cancer everyday. Your logic is unreasonable and actually quite offensive.
