Billy Graham buys election ads after Romney meeting
CNN ^ | October 18, 2012

Posted on 10/19/2012 2:29:36 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

The most famous and revered pastor in America, Billy Graham, is calling on voters to cast a ballot for their faith in full-page ads in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and other newspapers.

Graham’s picture appears prominently in the ads, next to copy that reads, “As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last.”

It continues, “I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.”

The ad hit the prominent papers Wednesday and Thursday, and could hit a dozen more newspapers...

The 9th Commandment is not a suggestion. Bearing False witness is still a sin. One day you can explain yourself face to face to God. However NOW you will not be able to claim you did not know what your are doing.

Sins of Omission “aka God’s blind spot”, are still sins. Lie to yourselves all you wish, you cannot lie to God.

Romney or Obama will be President. Not voting for Romney means you are voting for Obama by omission. Dress it up all you wish, you can answer to God for your sins.

Romney has stated he will rescind Barack Obama’s executive order authorizing US taxpayer fund to pay for overseas abortions.

But that single act alone a Romney Presidency will reduce the numbers of abortions.

There is NO other rational vote for any truly Christian voter. Your inaction empowers evil while your action would oppose it. Moral cowardice, not matter how carefully hidden in a fake gloss of morality, is till cowardice

Ok let me get this straight. If Jesus returns to earth after the election, and He asks you, “So, you voted for the guy with the fake Christian religion?”

Are you going to say, “Yes Lord, it was either him or the guy with the fake Muslim religion”.

I’m voting for Romney, but will life-long Dem Billy do so?

It’s interesting that Billy voted for every piece of trash, abortion-loving Democrat for president until now, isn’t it?

Obama thinks he “IS” a god.

Romney thinks he’ll “become” a god.

At least Romney doesn’t think he is a God yet...

So maybe he will be better behaved than Obummer.

Once upon a time, the FR mods didn't take too kindly to accusations of lying (which involve proving intent)...

These days????

Prove the link I gave in post #71 is even false, let alone a lie...vs. just making accusations.

You see...when Romney was in the primary debates from the 2007-2008 campaign, I listened to him describe THEN that when Mass "Commonwealth Care" was passed, that addressed the 7% of Bay State residents who -- at that time -- had no insurance...In the last debate (this week), Mitt told us 2% of adults still don't have insurance in MA.

Romney told us during one of those previous election cycle debates that one-fourth of those who lacked insurance in the Bay State--almost 2% of the population--were earning $75,000 or more.

So, then, RomneyCare came along and offered $50 abortions by subsidizing almost 2% of the female population who were earning $75,000 or more (women who were NOT covered by the court mandate -- as it dealt with Medicaid funded abortions)...

...and another 2% to almost 3% of the female population were likely women above or around the Medicaid border for receiving such assistance.

Translation: Roughly 4% of the female population in MA can thank RomneyCare for having the option to get cheap abortions for which they were not eligible under Medicaid-provisions pre-RomneyCare.

Bottom line: Even excluding abortions in MA tied to rape and incest, RomneyCare's been the likely DIRECT ties "sponsor" of 1 out of every 20-25 abortions in the Bay State for these almost six years.

So pro-abortionists can tout: Mitt Romney, the deep-coffers DI-rect source of dismembering 1 in 20-25 babies in the Bay State.

And, of course, that all = guilt by actual association: Even pro-life Massachusetts taxpayers have been funding a fair number of abortions! (All thanks to Mitt Romney!)

Romney or Obama will be President. Not voting for Romney means you are voting for Obama by omission

Listen, even for posters who believe this drivel, you seem completely ignorant about one little fact: The President is NOT elected by a popular vote.

The "omission" argument works in close races of any given candidate...but the POTUS race injects electoral votes into it. That means the POTUS race is 51 mini-races (50 states + D.C.)

And, since you're from Minnesota, let's use that state as one example:

Minnesota is a blue state...It and Illinois are two Midwestern blue states in which Obama will get 100% of the electoral votes.

Hold your breath until your face is first flush with red--before it turns blue -- but you won't be able (in 2012 anyway) to "wish" Minnesota "red."

Anybody voting for Romney in Illinois, Minnesota, the Left Coast, NJ-NY-CT, the D.C. corridor (that includes MD, Delaware) or New England's MA-RI-VT-Maine ... will garner how many electoral votes for Romney? [Answer? Absolutely Zero!]

Therefore...people who vote third party in Blue states (like MN) aren't withholding ANY electoral votes from Romney.

Even in the 28 or so clear red states (FL, NC, & VA have recently become "clear" red)...if 100% of FREEPERs voted for Virgil Goode...guess what? Obama would still have NO chance of winning ANY of those states.

So...in about 43 states + D.C...a non-vote for Romney (by voting for say, Virgil Goode) does NO ACTUAL electoral damage to Romney.

Dress up your fear-mongering about Obama all you want...the only true "anti-Obama" votes should occur in the seven genuine swing states...

When one compares Romney and Obama it's a no-brainer. He isn't asking that we accept Romney's faith but rather his stance on issues so important to Graham and which should be to this nation. What am I missing here FRiend?

Anyone willing to sacrifice pre-borns -- as Romney's record shows...and even as late as late Aug when he told he favored abortions for reason of the mom's "health"...which btw, is no different than Roe v. Wade 1973 decision which allows for "health" of the mom and is so wide open of a loophole you can drive a lot of sideway ships thru it...

...is NOT a stance that suddenly a high % of pro-life voters should not enter into lightly.

And tell me, if McCain or Sarah Palin had announced in 08 that they were "gods in embryo" -- like temple Lds believe -- do you think GoP, independent, and Dem voters would gloss over that?

You know. I have a cousin in Orem UT that has been Mormon since she was married. The lady is in her 80s now. One day, after she called me we got to talking about faith and how many people have died as a result of religion. I.E. the dark ages etc, as well as the persecution and the terrible things her religion has done. We talked about our ancestors, who came over in the 1630s because of religious persecution to Salem Mass and how the Salem witch trials were carried out because of politics in religion. So I asked her..”Judy, does the Mormon religion recognize Jesus as the Christ and the son of God?” She told me yes, no matter what others say. She also said that a lot has changed in her religion and that is why a lot of sects have broken away since they have become more mainstream. Still, they have some real strange things and I for one will not condemn them...so do the Catholics, Protestants and on and on. I doubt not one of these fine handed SOBs that like to attack anothers religion here understand that even today, Catholics are shunned in parts of Scotland.

No other religion as I see it backs the family like the Mormons do. It is a tough religion..as well as strange, but so be it.

Its by faith...

An Open Letter Regarding Governor Mitt Romney

January 11, 2007

Dear conservative friends:

We hail from a broad spectrum of organizations dedicated to fighting for the pro-family agenda in Massachusetts. As you know, Mitt Romney became the governor of our state in 2003. Since that time, we have worked closely with him and his excellent staff on that agenda.

Some press accounts and bloggers have described Governor Romney in terms we neither have observed nor can we accept. To the contrary, we, who have been fighting here for the values you also hold, are indebted to him and his responsive staff in demonstrating solid social conservative credentials by undertaking the following actions here in Massachusetts:

• Staunchly defended traditional marriage. Governor Romney immediately and strongly condemned the 2003 court decision that legalized “same-sex marriage” in our state. More importantly, he followed up on that denunciation with action – action that saved our nation from a constitutional crisis over the definition of marriage. He and his staff identified and enforced a little-known 1913 law that allowed them to order local clerks not to issue marriage licenses to out-of-state couples. Absent this action, homosexual couples would surely have flooded into Massachusetts from other states to get “married” and then demanded that their home states recognize the “marriages,” putting the nation only one court decision away from nationalizing “same-sex marriage.”

• Worked hard to overturn “same-sex marriage” in the Commonwealth with considerable progress to date. In 2004 he lobbied hard, before a very hostile legislature, for a constitutional amendment protecting marriage – an amendment later changed by the legislature to include civil unions, which the Governor and many marriage amendment supporters opposed. Working with the Governor, we were successful in defeating this amendment.

• Provided active support for a successful citizen petition drive in 2005 to advance a clean constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

• Rallied thousands of citizens to focus public and media attention on the failure of legislators, through repeated delays, to perform their constitutional obligation and vote on the marriage amendment.

• Filed suit before the Supreme Judicial Court. The Governor’s suit asked the court to clarify the legislators’ duty to vote and failing that, to place the amendment on the 2008 ballot. That lawsuit, perhaps more than any other single action, was by all accounts instrumental in bringing pressure on the legislators to vote. The vote ultimately was taken on January 2, 2007 and won legislative support – clearing a major hurdle in the three year effort to restore traditional marriage in the Commonwealth.

• Fought for abstinence education. In 2006, under Governor Romney’s leadership, Massachusetts’ public schools began to offer a classroom program on abstinence from the faith-based Boston group Healthy Futures to middle school students. Promoting the program, Governor Romney stated, “I’ve never had anyone complain to me that their kids are not learning enough about sex in school. However, a number of people have asked me why it is that we do not speak more about abstinence as a safe and preventative health practice.”

• Affirmed the culture of life. Governor Romney has vetoed bills to provide access to the so-called “morning-after pill,” which is an abortifacient, as well as a bill providing for expansive, embryo-destroying stem cell research. He vetoed the latter bill in 2005 because the could not “in good conscience allow this bill to become law.”

• Stood for religious freedom. Last year, Governor Romney was stalwart in defense of the right of Catholic Charities of Boston to refuse to allow homosexual couples to adopt children in its care. Catholic Charities was loudly accused of “discrimination,” but Governor Romney correctly pointed out that it is unjust to force a religious agency to violate the tenets of its faith in order to placate a special-interest group.

• Filed “An Act Protecting Religious Freedom” in the Massachusetts legislature to save Catholic Charities of Boston and other religious groups from being forced to violate their moral principles or stop doing important charitable work.

All of this may explain why John J. Miller, the national political reporter of National Review, has written that “a good case can be made that Romney has fought harder for social conservatives than any other governor in America, and it is difficult to imagine his doing so in a more daunting political environment.”

We are aware of the 1994 comments of Senate candidate Romney, which have been the subject of much recent discussion. While they are, taken by themselves, obviously worrisome to social conservatives including ourselves, they do not dovetail with the actions of Governor Romney from 2003 until now – and those actions have positively and demonstrably impacted the social climate of Massachusetts.

Since well before 2003, we have been laboring in the trenches of Massachusetts, fighting for the family values you and we share. It is difficult work indeed – not for the faint of heart. In this challenging environment, Governor Romney has proven that he shares our values, as well as our determination to protect them.

For four years, Governor Romney has been right there beside us, providing leadership on key issues – whether it was politically expedient to do so or not. He has stood on principle, and we have benefited greatly from having him with us.

It is clear that Governor Romney has learned much since 1994 – to the benefit of our movement and our Commonwealth. In fact, the entire nation has benefited from his socially conservative, pro-family actions in office. As we explained earlier, his leadership on the marriage issue helped prevent our nation from being plunged into even worse legal turmoil following the court decision that forced “gay marriage” upon our Commonwealth.

For that our country ought to be thankful. We certainly are.

Sincerely,
Rita Covelle

Mormonism is not a Christian denomination, it is an entirely different, polytheistic religion created in the 1800s.

To quote the Catholics:
“”By following all the rules and ordinances of God here, Mormon men and women have the potential of also becoming gods (by first becoming a good Mormon, paying a full ten percent tithe to the Mormon church, and follow various laws and ordinances of the church). “As god once was, man is. As God is, man may become” (Joseph Smith’s words). Mormons believe that there are many worlds and many gods. Each god is similar to God the Father, having the same powers and omnipotence, and even being able to create their own worlds. “Heavenly Father” is only the name of the god who rules over this world.””
