There are those who say that the tea party is fading in influence, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the movement is on the cusp of achieving what once seemed nearly impossible: keeping the Senate Democratic.
A year ago, famed political handicapper Charlie Cook gave Republicans a 60 percent to 70 percent likelihood of capturing control of the Senate; now, he tells me the likelihood of it remaining Democratic is 60 percent.
The switch in fortunes can be attributed to many causes — a slate of lackluster Republican candidates high among them — but one thing is beyond serious dispute: If not for a series of tea party upsets in Republican primaries, the Republicans would be taking over the Senate majority in January.
There is a deep irony here: The tea party faithful, who claimed they wanted to shake up Washington, have wound up perpetuating the old system. In fighting for ideological purity in primaries regardless of the consequences, they have set back their own cause of limited government and expanded freedom.

Two races in the whole scheme of things means very little. We are all Republicans and we must remain united in our desire to defeat Democrats--they are the enemy.
I know nothing about the man who beat her and that is not necessarily relevant. At any rate, she did not win and she came across as a kook. She did no one any good. I like the William F. Buckley method—choose the most conservative—WHO CAN WIN.
You have to learn to make your own judgments based on what you see and hear from the candidate and what their enemies say.
The Washington Post, owned and operated mostly by mostly gay people, didn't like her.
Yes, he does. He’s coming from behind to beat double-dealing Casey, who last time told the pro-lifers he was pro-life and NARAL he wasn’t. NARAL endorsed him. I saw some of them on the street with a Casey table and said “Why are you endorsing this pro-lifer?” and they took the signs down.
Smith has the coal miners too, and everyone who supports them in this very pro-union state.
To clarify, the table was for various pro-aborts.
Also, Casey is running on his father’s name. Some people may even think they’re voting for Casey Sr.
He actually sounds quite prophetic ~ particularly about being a danger to the nation.
I’m a Tea Partier and I am fully behind all the Republicans this election.
After we get rid of 0bama, we can worry about getting rid of RINOs.
Though I can only speak for myself, the other Tea Partiers I’ve talked with have pretty much the same attitude. I’m sure there are a few Tea Partiers who will vote third party. So will some Democrats and Republicans. But I think most of the noise about Tea Partiers voting third party or not voting is wishful thinking coming from Democrats and trolls.
Even though I live a long way away, I saw replays of her ad. It was devastating. I have no idea if another Republican could have won the election but there had to be someone better than O’Donnell.
Actually, he’s got it upside down.
The “tea party” is the GOP rank and file. The people who most hate the tea party (which is to say, their own membership) are what we used to call “Rockefeller Republicans” and what we now like to call Rinos and GOPe. I believe they hate the rank and file Republicans more than the Democrats do.
And the Repubs who most viciously attacked us almost always turned out to be romniacs. This is one of several reasons so many of us wanted nothing to do with Romney. We mistrusted him due to his record, but viscerally disliked the kind of people who were quickest to rally to him.
But just as we have found it necessary to offer him our support, he has found that he needs it. So, Romney, a qualified yes. Romniacs, no. They can still take a flying leap.
Milktoast remembers the thousands upon thousands of Tea Partiers that were at the Washington Mall. The thousands and thousands that attended Tea Party Rallies all over the United States. A true grass roots movement. People anxious to save our Country from the obamatrocity. He is scared of the impact that a revved up Tea Party can have on an election. See 2010 for an example.

You have to remember something about Delaware, Joe Biden got elected from there and to win you must usually be a Democrat, or have had significant brain surgery, or be gay with a cousin or two working as thugs for the unions ~ oh, yeah, and be IN TIGHT with the shore community real estate and tourist industry (which are all the same thing there)
The odds were against her.
I noticed at the time that she lost with about the same percentages as some other Repubs down ticket. Which means, the ad didn’t make any difference for or against.

First, the ‘scapegoat’ shtick is the liberal Democrats and liberal pundits in the lib-media.
Second, the election is not over yet, and in fact Romney is on track for a big win and his coattails will bring in a GOP Senate majority.

They wanted to defeat Tea Party Republican Allen West, but latest poll has him up 9 points.
Tea party Republicans Mourdock in Indiana and Cruz in Texas will win. So will Heller in NV. Akin was toast but has come back to 50/50 shot. Tom Smith in PA is within the MOE.

I am sure you are right but she should never have been the candidate in order to get optimal chance at success of defeating the RAT.
