Of course we're down to the final months of the president's term, as presidents...
(LAUGHTER)
...as President Obama surveys the Waldorf banquet room with everyone in white tie and refinery, you have to wonder what he's thinking. So little time, so much to redistribute.
(LAUGHTER)
And don't be surprised if the president mentions this evening the monthly jobs report where there was a slight improvement in the numbers. He knows how to seize the moment, this president. And already has a compelling new campaign slogan, "You're better off now than you were four weeks ago."
(LAUGHTER)
You know, with or without all the dignitaries that are here, the Al Smith dinner surely lives up to its billing. Usually when I get invited to gatherings like this, it's just to be the designated driver.
(LAUGHTER)
Your kind hospitality here tonight gives me a chance to convey my deep and long held respect for the Catholic church. I have special admiration for the Apostle St. Peter, to whom it is said, "Upon this rock, I will build my church." The story is all the more inspiring when you consider that he had so many skeptics and scoffers at the time who were heard to say, "If you've got a church, you didn't build that."

Obama doesn’t make jokes about himself. That would be racist.
I love the part where Romney rips into the Press....if you watch Katie Couric in the background her face goes a little sour at one point.

There, now it's fixed......
Yep, Mitt a great job. I had no idea he was such a good comedian.
That speech—shown “unfiltered” on most news channels—could end up convincing a lot more voters to support Romney over Obama. The way the way the speech was delivered reminded me so much of the late Bob Hope’s monologues on his TV specials for NBC.
Michael Deavers, Reagan's image guy, new that a picture paints a thousand words and that whatever the press would write about it after the fact wouldn't really stick.
Romney is enjoying that same dynamic now......he showed up to the debates and wasn't even close to representing the Romney the press had created with their words in print. This Al Smith dinner furthers that dynamic for Romney.
Romney killed and the almighty highmaster of narcissism had to just sit there and take it, pretending to laugh at himself. Romney will go in for the final kill at the next debate, Obama hasn’t got a chance.
I suspect that Dennis Miller who is now traveling with the Romney campaign had a lot if input.
Hahaha!! Not only is that going to leave marks, Obama is going out on a stretcher!
Among others, that line about 'brought to you by the letter O and the number 16 trillion' has Dennis Miller written all over it. It was brilliant, and so was MR's delivery.
Great jokes, delivered with skill and warmth. This is awesome.
I didn’t watch Obama’s speech. How was it received by the audience and how did it compare to Mitt’s?
One possible error made. It did sound like he said “Die”, but I’m sure he meant “Dine”.
“And Ive already seen early reports from tonights dinner, headline; ‘Obama Embraced by Catholics. Romney Dies [Dines?] with Rich People.’...”
(LAUGHTER)

I think this is going to be checkmate as well. Up until now, Romney has been moving the pieces around the board on both Obozo and his "In like" campaign contributers - the news media.
I think the best part of this whole campaign is not only the fact that Romney has shown himself to be exactly the opposite of how he was advertised by the left and the media but more importantly Romney was finally able to expose the BLATANT LIBERAL BIAS of THE MEDIA to 65 million homes in a single debate.
I don't think the media will ever recover from it either......too many people saw it with their own eyes.
“And by the way in in the spirit of Sesame Street, the presidents remarks tonight are brought to you but the letter O and the number $16 trillion.
(LAUGHTER)
Campaigns can be grueling, exhausting. President Obama and are each very lucky to have one person who is always in our corner, someone who we can lean on, and someone who is a comforting presence. Without whom, we wouldnt be able to go another day. I have my beautiful wife Ann, he has Bill Clinton.
(LAUGHTER)
We got a big dose of the Biden charm last week, I tell you that, in his debate with Paul Ryan. Im not sure that all that carrying on had quite the effect that Joe intended. Because afterwards I heard from the Federal Election Commission, from now on whenever he appears on TV theres a recording of me afterwards that says, Im Mitt Romney, and I approved this message.
(LAUGHTER)...”
We cannot count on that can we? It’ll be up to us to email this video link to fence sitters and our regular lists.
