Decades of confidential sexual abuse allegations from within the Boy Scouts of America will spill into public view later today when more than 1,200 of the organization’s “perversion files” are released by order of the Oregon Supreme Court.
The files will offer the public an unprecedented look at how suspected molestations were handled by one of the nation’s leading youth organizations from the early 1960s through 1985, a time when awareness of sexual abuse was evolving rapidly.
~snip~
The abuse reports to be released today played a key role as evidence in a landmark Oregon lawsuit in 2010 that resulted in the largest judgment ever against the Scouts in a molestation case. A jury awarded nearly $20 million to a man who was molested by an assistant scoutmaster in the early 1980s, ruling that the Scouts had failed to protect him.
Afterward, the Boy Scouts petitioned to keep the files closed, a move opposed by media outlets seeking their full disclosure. In June, the Oregon Supreme Court sided with the Oregonian newspaper, the Associated Press, the New York Times, Oregon Public Broadcasting and other outlets and ordered their release after victim information had been redacted.
In recent months, The Times has published a series of stories analyzing an overlapping set of files -- nearly 1,900 cases, opened between 1970 and 1991, given to the newspaper by a Seattle attorney. Among other things, the analysis found that hundreds of allegations of sexual abuse were never reported to law enforcement, and Scouting officials repeatedly helped alleged molesters cover their tracks.
FULL COVERAGE: Inside the 'perversion files'
As The Times reported Wednesday, the files show a clear pattern of “grooming behavior” that allegedmolesters used to seduce their victims, and often to ensure their silence.over their handling of alleged abuse.

Thanks for that info.
It makes sense. Better safe than sorry.
But isn’t it sad that this is a necessary precaution?
Isn’t it sad that queers have brought America down to this level?
The Boy Scouts get what they deserve. That sounds like San Francisco Values.
GAY TROLL
Spewed a hate comment against the Boy Scouts, and for over an hour, has made no response to any return comments.
A look at (it’s) homepage reveals the individual doesn’t want anyone to know what state (he/she/?) lives in, and the only other thing on the page is HI.
Wonder if it stands for Homosexual Infiltrator ?
CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE NOW, NEWZJUNKEY ?
Wow that is just brilliant...
Is that right.
The Boy Scouts have a policy of two-deep leadership. However, as with any rule, some people don't follow the rules.
For example, the Boy Scouts limit certain high adventure activities to Scouts fourteen years of age or older. However, there are Troops that permit younger Scouts to engage in those high adventure activities.
Just proves that there are homos in the Scouts - shouldn’t the moonbats be happy about that?
These are justifications why you keep the homos and pedos and pervs out of the Scouts. They’ll lie and connive to get at young impressionable boys.
Get them out, keep them out.
Well, since there probably aren't any females involved, the proper term for them is "pederasts"...either that or disease-ridden, boy-raping faggots.
Now if the Catholic Church would just ban homos from being priests...
Actually, BSA uses the term "ineligible volunteer" files.
6. The Boy Scouts dont allow heterosexuals to be alone with Scouts. They dont risk any potential liability.
9. Yep, it is called 2 deep leadership. ...
19. Every adult leader or parent that accompanies kids on outings is required to annually qualify for youth protection. That includes detailed descriptions of the two deep policy. I like the policy. ...
20. From what I know about the scouts ... they make sure that no scout is alone with a single adult. They must have two or more leaders with scouts or individuals.

Below is a message from a volunteer Scouter who sits on his council's (St. Petersburg, FL) executive board. I read elsewhere several months ago (can't find the source right now) that the UMC's national governing committee was considering putting the BSA's quasi-DADT membership policy on its agenda for a meeting in early 2013. The UMC barely defeated a measure back in May 2012 which would have re-defined marriage to include homosexuals.

We had our Council Executive Committee meeting today. Found out from our Membership VP that the United Methodist Churches will be holding up all recharters starting January 1, 2013. With the numerous lawsuits concerning abuse, they have concerns about liability. There is some agreement that they expect the Council to sign in order to have charters at any UMC in our Council. Apparently, this will go state-wide today throughout Florida. Obviously, we'll just being forwarding this to National since it's not something the Council can agree to and must be dealt with at a National level between the BSA and UMC. Shouldn't take long for this to spread throughout the country and cross over into the other chartering organizations.
We’ve long ago lost the definition to Leftwing obsequiousness and homosexuality. Vir - man and virtus = manliness.
VIRTUE, n. vur’’tu. [L. virtus, from vireo, or its root. See Worth.] The radical sense is strength, from straining, stretching, extending. This is the primary sense of L. vir, a man.]
1. Strength; that substance or quality of physical bodies, by which they act and produce effects on other bodies. In this literal and proper sense, we speak of the virtue or virtues of plants in medicine, and the virtues of drugs. In decoctions, the virtues of plants are extracted. By long standing in the open air, the virtues are lost.
2. Bravery valor. This was the predominant signification of virtus among the Romans.
Trust to thy single virtue.
[This sense is nearly or quite obsolete.]
3. Moral goodness; the practice of moral duties and the abstaining from vice, or a conformity of life and conversation to the moral law. In this sense, virtue may be, and in many instances must be, distinguished from religion. The practice of moral duties merely from motives of convenience, or from compulsion, or from regard to reputation, is virtue, as distinct from religion. The practice of moral duties from sincere love to God and his laws, is virtue and religion. In this sense it is true,
That virtue only makes our bliss below.
Virtue is nothing but voluntary obedience to truth.
4. A particular moral excellence; as the virtue of temperance, of chastity, of charity.
Remember all his virtues.
5. Acting power; something efficacious.
Jesus, knowing that virtue had gone out of him, turned - Mark 3.
6. Secret agency; efficacy without visible or material action.
She moves the body which she doth possess,
Yet no part toucheth, but by virtue’’s touch.
7. Excellence; or that which constitutes value and merit.
- Terence, who thought the sole grace and virtue of their fable, the sticking in of sentences.
8. One of the orders of the celestial hierarchy.
Thrones, dominations, princedoms, virtues, powers.
9. Efficacy; power.
He used to travel through Greece by virtue of this fable, which procured him reception in all the towns.
10. Legal efficacy or power; authority. A man administers the laws by virtue of a commission.
In virtue, in consequence; by the efficacy or authority.
This they shall attain, partly in virtue of the promise of God, and partly in virtue of piety.
Putting homos and boys together is a certain recipe for sexual predation. Just ask the Catholics what the homo infiltration did for them. It is the lifestyle portion still hidden in the gay closet.
Funny how queers are always telling us homosexuality & pedophilia aren’t related, & yet we hear so many child molestation cases coming from their “community”
http://www.scouting.org/Training/YouthProtection.aspx It's pretty comprehensive and the troops I know about are serious about it.

That’s depressing. Sounds like we’re going to be needing to find different places to meet here soon. I know the scouts will make do.
It’s ironic that the people who caused the problem (homosexuals) have successfully forced the boy scouts out of the mainstream by exposing their own wrongdoing and blaming it on the scouts.
Why can’t they just be honest and call them the “homo files.”
Dont confuse two deep leadership with no one on one contact.
Two deep leadership means there are two adults present at all troop level events, at least one of whom is BSA Youth Protection Trained and 21 years of age or older, and the other may be the parent or guardian of a scout present. The second adult can also be another BSA Adult Leader who is youth protection trained, but may be under 21. It does not mean that everywhere a scout goes when on a scout outing there are two adults present. There is also no limit to the number of scouts two adults can take on a troop level event, and one of the adults can be female.
No one one one contact means an adult scouter cannot ever be alone with an individual scout. Even scoutmaster conferences need to be held in open view, like in a quiet corner of a meeting room or off to the side during a camping trip.
Boys can still do day events on their own, like hikes and service projects, with no adults present. But patrol overnight camping is no longer allowed without two adults present, one of whom is a registered, youth protection trained adult.
