President Barack Obama plans to hold his election-night rally at Chicagos McCormick Place convention center, a move aimed at easing concerns over weather and security, sources with knowledge of the event said Wednesday.
Given the indoor location, the event seems unlikely to match the electric atmosphere of Obamas 2008 outdoor victory rally in Grant Park. That event drew an estimated 240,000 people downtown and created picturesque images of the citys skyline that were seen worldwide.
While the decision to use McCormick Place will tamp down the crowd size, it will provide the president with greater security.
McCormick Place was the site of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization summit in May, an event designated as a national special security event by the federal Department of Homeland Security.
Obamas election-night rally is expected to receive the same designation.

When Obama loses on November 6, 2012, I doubt he will be able to fill the McCormick Place..even with 11,500 losers
On Nov. 7, the kitchen in his Chicago house will be large enough for the crowd.
I think Obozo is truly fearful for his life. This is becoming a common thing with him. Obviously, a smaller, enclosed venue is safer and easier to control.
I wonder who the intel guys are watching...must be some serious threats out there against bammy.
Or the parking lot of a Popeye’s fried chicken store.
If he loses, Katy bar the door....
The terrorists love Obambi. He doesn’t have anything to fear from him.
Perhaps this is some kind of PSY OPS for his team to claim he fears for his life from WHITEY...thus helping along the riots
