On a side note, why the heck did they go with iPads and not Kindle? Heck of a price difference there...

Yeah, I would be a whole lot more accepting of a basic model Kindle. I guess not being able to access porn means the kids would trash a Kindle.

When I was in school we were responsible for taking care of our textbooks. I guess responsibility isn't a priority these days.

Yup! First day of school, the school issued nice book covers, and we installed them in class. The condition of the book was noted, and we signed them on the inside of the cover. We were responsible for their condition at the end of the year.
