By scoring big on the economy, gas prices, and Libya, Romney continued his victorious string of debate wins. He looked more presidential than Obama did and showed himself to be an articulate, capable, attractive, compassionate leader with sound ideas.
Obama came over as boorish and Biden-esque. He did not learn from his Vice President's mistakes. When a president gets into a bar room brawl, he loses his dignity and his aura, key assets for an incumbent. Romney was polite but firm. Obama seemed quarrelsome, frustrated, nasty, and cranky.
But the key reason for the Romney win was substantive:
1. Romney made very clear the case against Obama's economic record and Obama's rebuttal about 5 million jobs was pathetic.
2. Romney injected the China issue, big time, and tapped into a strong public sentiment on the issue.
3. Romney made the effective case that Obama is anti-oi, coal, and gas and that this has doubled gas prices.

"But this debate goes to Romney. It seals his momentum and will lead to a big win."
I normally cringe when Morris makes bold statements during a critical election, and I expect to learn he got it wrong sometime later.
However, this is right in line with my take and I have to agree.
But, Obama said that gas prices were so low early in his administration because the economy was tanking at that time. Aren’t you all persuaded that gas prices have more than doubled during the last four years, because Obama’s economic policies have helped the economy???
But in todays society...Your average swing-voter could easily view Obama's aggression and rudeness as strength. In a day and age when so few people have dignity, they neither seek nor recognize it in a leader.
But I am hopeful that the crow's obscenely obvious bias won Mitt some sympathy. And at the end of the day, no matter what Obama says, people are still paying 70 bucks to gas up and people are still unemployed. Obama can't change that no matter how much he promises.
You can't pay for gas when all you've got is 'hope' and a fistful of loose change. You can't put 'hope' on the dinner table -- As Ben Franklin said, "He who lives upon hope dies farting."
I couldn’t agree more if I tried.
Certainly he could have pressed a few points harder than he did, nonetheless he established President Bullsh1t as the liar and coward that he is.
This was a debate where each side thinks their guy won. The critical factor, IMO, were “undecided” voters. Obama needed to explain why another four years under him would be any different than the last four years. I don’t see how he did that. I therefore expect the undecideds to break heavily for the challenger, as they usually do.
“As Ben Franklin said, “He who lives upon hope dies farting.”
LOL-LOL....I don’t think you could have found a better way to end that post.
On this, Dick Morris is correct.
Romney won.
Obama had no choice. It would have been career suicide to tout his true record. His handlers correctly coached him to go for the ‘You Lie’ approach as the ONLY option open to him, and Biden for that matter, as any other form of debating would have exposed his failed policies to broad daylight. The truth to him and his ilk is like Holy Water to a vampire .
Perhaps.
But the majority of both TV focus groups of "undecided voters" (FoxNews and MSNBC) are now leaning for Romney.
It's heartening to know that even the undecideds can recognize pomp and bluster for what it is.
Throughout and after the debate I had the strong sense that Romney won, and especially won on the issues that matter. But the damn pundits at Fox spun it the opposite direction towards Obama, and it made no sense to me. Only a tweeting Laura Ingraham had it correct and she was fighting tooth and nail on Twitter throughout the night making the same points Dick Morris is making today. It was hard to fall asleep with that disconnect in my mind, and I’m glad the dust is settling today with Romney looking, appropriately, like the man who came out on top.
The big winners last night? On the Fence Voters in OH and PA.
The Liberal Plants stepped in it big-time.
Romney knocked the skin off the ball on Coal, Fracking for Gas and Oil, and 2nd Amendment Rights.
Tailor made for OH and PA voters.
I'd love to see some Internals or Rolling Rassmussen Polls of those 2 States over the next 3 to 5 days...
Fundamental logic !
My 17 year old kept saying during the debate, “You think that Obama had never been president”. Then my brother texted me that Obama is confusing his proposals for accomplishments. The problem for Obama is he has a record and talking doesn’t cover that fact up.
Mitt should say the policy of his administration will be plentiful, cheap energy. The policy of the poser is just the opposite and the result is higher gas prices, higher heating prices, higher electric and gas prices, higher food prices and higher prices for anything that requires any energy to produce as well as fewer jobs. People can relate to that by looking at their own bills and seeing what is going on around them.
Your brother hit it on the head. He mentions ideas and then runs as if they were implemented and succeeded. His record is his original platform, and his plan for the next four years is just a regurgitation. He can point to no specific successes, and no positive results, other than a ginned up '5 million jobs created' even though we are not even keeping up with population growth.
