President Obama’s campaign spokeswoman said that he “takes responsibility” for the security of U.S. diplomats, less than a day after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took the blame.
“President Obama takes responsibility for the safety and security of all diplomats serving overseas,” said Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki on Fox News today. “Secretary Clinton of course has a great amount of responsibility as Secretary of State.”
Psaki denied that Clinton’s remarks were a “coordinated roll-out” to shelter Obama ahead of the debate, as Fox’s Shepard Smith suggested.
“I take responsibility,” Clinton told CNN during a trip to Peru yesterday. “The president and the vice president wouldn’t be knowledgeable about specific decisions that are made by security professionals.”
Three Republican senators replied by arguing that “the buck stops” with Obama. “If the President was truly not aware of this rising threat level in Benghazi, then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed,” said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., in a joint statement.

He’ll use this as a deflection to any comments Romney makes tonight. He’ll just say he’s getting to the bottom of it with an investigation and will delay any response for 3 weeks, then drop it.

this tells me they are getting hit hard in the polls over Benghazi. They are worried he would take a huge hit in the debate me thinks as well.
So Hilary’s statement really didn’t help Obama.
My theory is Obama can’t help himself with words, because people already know he is a disappointment. This is very much like Carter/ Reagan.
Obama’s only hopes are:
1. Huge base turnout. IMHO he will get a huge black turnout again. We will see.
2. Attack someone militarily. Libyans come to mind.
3. Convince people they can’t vote for Romney. I think this is plan A, so there is going to be some form of the Bush dui revelation coming down the pike. Also all the war on women baloney, forced ultrasounds, denied rape abortions, cats and dogs living together, etc.
