At some point in their careers I wish they had taken time to propagate dozens of other groups, perhaps created a rock ‘n’ roll college with some of the other ‘master’ groups of the time, that would have the resources to turn good young groups into great groups.
Similar in concept to some of the great Renaissance artists, who instead of just relying on their own works, had entire schools associated with their style, creating a much broader legacy.
For instance, the Stones were very influenced by American blues performers, of which an enormous library exists, but most up and coming musicians have heard very little blues. Just by having a handy library would give them all sorts of ideas.
Then they could bring in musical masters to give seminars, so the students could learn the look, feel and capabilities of dozens of uncommon instruments any of which they might integrate into their own stuff for a unique sound.
At last! Someone who appreciates one of the best, if not THE best, rock n roll band in history. Have to say, I’m really surprised by some of the responses here.
