Malala Yousufzai, the 14-year-old Pakistani girl who was targeted and nearly killed by the Taliban for supporting education for girls, has been flown to a hospital in Birmingham, England for medical treatment. She arrived this afternoon.
Her shooting launched an unprecedented outcry, cross-cutting through Pakistan's complex religious and political lines. Political leaders from all parties, even those with historical ties to the Taliban, have condemned the attack. Pakistan's normally reclusive army chief and the country's prime minister made personal visits to see her in the hospital.

"Everybody feels the same way. If you can't protect your own children, then what kind of future is there for this country?
Initially, Pakistanis began protesting the attack in small numbers, with sporadic rallies and candlelit vigils attended, in some cases, by just dozens of well-wishers. As news of the attack on her spread, and politicians began making more forceful condemnations, the numbers quickly swelled.
Tens of thousands took to the streets Sunday in a political rally in Karachi, Pakistan's largest city. Young children carried placards with Malala's picture, and Altaf Hussain, the leader of Pakistan's Muttahida Qaumi Movement, a key political party in Karachi, referred to her as "the daughter of the nation."
Even Afghan President Hamid Karzai has sent his condolences, writing a public letter to Pakistani political leaders, asking them to do more to rein in terrorists who operate along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The hospital spokesman said there was a chance for her to make a good recovery; otherwise, she would not have been put on the plane. Her medical expenses are being handled by the Pakistani government

Sent to an English hospital? Now she’s in real danger.
That was my thought right away. If the NHS doesn’t kill her, the muslims who have taken over the UK will certainly get to finish the job.
Do people like you really believe the drivel you write?.
I dont see America jetting her over, what with your hospitals which are 90000% times better than the UK.
Britain helps save a girls life, and we get sh*t like this from our supposed allies?.
If it’s any consolation several of my family were in England recently (cousin threw the discus at Olympics) and were smitten with the place.
Thought it was a pity they named the hospital.
Wondered if it might have been Stoke Manderville when the initial reports said a hospital in the Midlands.
Don’t pay any attention to the nay sayers,
pray for her recovery as so many of us are,
and know that we are grateful for everything
you can do for her.
It’s been 200 years since you burned Washington D.C. to the ground.
A real friend of the American people would visit more often. ;)
So you like the quality of treatment in the NHS hospital system?
But hey, not to worry we are fast on track to be your equals.
Well, dont burn Toronto then.
LOL
Yes.
The NHS has flaws, and yes the occasional horror story (which I could easily find about American hospitals). BUT the NHS is far from the third rate hellhole many Americans think it is. The NHS overall is a good healthcare service, in some cases very good or excellent.
It has flaws, some large, but it is not remotely as bad as Americans think. The NHS has saved the life of both my parents and I have never had one bad personal or family experience.
One of my aunts is now sadly dying at 92 in an NHS ward, and she couldnt get better treatment. The doctors, nurses and hospital have been wonderful.
What dont they like?.
As I said, I am no cheerleader for the NHS, it has flaws, some large, but I will defend it against accusations it is third rate.
What’s the latest word on the girl?
Despite the personal abuse, I will address your points.
Firstly, 96% of the UK is not Muslim. So the idea that they run our country is drivel. There are no Muslims in major positions of power (contrast that with several people with Jewish blood being in power, inc the PM, Deputy PM and the leader of the opposition).
Secondly, yes, the UK is too PC to Muslims, too PC overall (which is a cancer that affects America and the West). That however dosent mean we are dhimmis or that the Moozlims run the UK.
Thirdly, I think you need to read stories a bit better:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/9611740/Well-wishers-posing-as-family-stopped-from-seeing-shot-schoolgirl-Malala-Yousafzai-as-she-is-treated-at-UK-hospital.html
Lastly, I AM British, so dont tell me about my own country. I know it better than someone who gets their knowledge of the UK from here. Or Rush, Savage or Fox News. I am not dumb or unwilling, I AM telling you the truth as opposed to the myth and the hysterical
I have been told here on FR is all seriousness that the UK is 25% Muslim. Thats the sort of ‘drivel’ I am talking about.
I wont tell you about your country. Dont come here and lecture me on mine, ok?.
She is fine.
Doctors have operated on here straight away, and she is recovering. They are “impressed with her strength and resilience”. She is ‘making good progress, but has a long way to go and is not out of the woods yet’.
