We were Scots Irish and English and settled there in 1730, from NH and Conn. After a long search no Arnold's and no Torrie's.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
I have an Irishman from Ulster who died at the Battle of Bloody Pond, Lake George, NY Sept 8-9 1755..
His Palatine German FIL fought in Queen Annes War, 1711..
Did any of your ancestors ever fight for the Colonies against the French and Indians ??
After a long search ...no Torrie’s.

Oh thats too bad...
Poor you...
Im so sorry for your lack...
Like many American families, we had some Rebels as well as some Loyalists...
Just not direct for me...
Families were split just like the Civil War...
The brothers and cousins of my ancestors fought on the other side...
Depended on where they were and what was happening...
1/3 of the country were Rebels
1/3 were Loyalists and
1/3 couldnt careless and didnt get involved if the troubles werent happening in their back yard...
Oh and dont forget...
The Susquehanna River Valley was the frontier ...
Of course there were Indians there...
and people who just thought it was more of that same fight over land by those folks in CT who were trying to steal part of PA since 1770..
2/3 of the families in the “Up the River” area where my family was were identified as Loyalists and not harming anyone until they were attacked by the Rebels..
