Comedian Tim Allen has an idea for a home improvement at the White House: Get a new tenant!
A rare Republican in Democrat-loving Hollywood let alone in prime time Allen delivers a comic smackdown in the season premiere of his ABC sitcom, Last Man Standing.
Its the first sign the GOP may be making inroads in what has been nearly solid support for the president on the left coast.
In the episode, airing four days before the election, Allens uber-conservative character, Mike Baxter, tries to persuade his impressionable 18-year-old daughter to vote for Mitt Romney.

Never saw that episode but we thought Lionel was a hunk back then.
Racist, or having first-hand info about the behavior of the underclass?
Not Lear but ‘Three’s Company’ was as well.
The WASPs saw the Irish as the underclass. In the South, the house servants were black. In the North, Irish.
On Last Man Standings Season 2 premiere, set to air November 2 four days before the election Allens character, a Romney supporter lobbies his daughter, Mandy, to vote for the Republican candidate. On the other side, Mandys older sister makes a push for Obama. Itll be something regular people care about, so our characters should care about it, says exec producer Tim Doyle....Doyle and Allen did have to fight the network and studio on some content. Specifically, Allen says the standards department took issue with his character calling Obama a communist. Allen fought to keep that in noting he finds it funny when conservatives paint the president with that label but it appears he lost that battle as none of the references made the final cut.
That was then. I'm talking about now. The Irish immigrants who came over in the 1800's and early 1900's may have been largely uneducated peasants, but within one or two generations they dragged themselves into the middle class.
Thanks! I just watched it now and laughed all over again!!!
Well, the blacks managed to do much the same by the 1950s, against even greater odds. The paradox is that the Civil Rights movement stopped that momentum by making the younger generation think that their fathers and grandfathers were saps for working their buns off to get ahead. Instead, they turned to the government to give them full economic equality with the whites NOW! As Charles Murry pointed out, the New Society destroyed the incentives that had raised so many blacks into the middle-class. Even Amos and Andy showed how far along they had come by 1954.
If there was a real Archie Bunker, he probably would have voted Democrat. The modern democrat party has been taken over by meat heads.
Tim was always smarter than the average hollyweirdo.
For the Northern WASPs, blacks were below underclass. Prior to 1910 89% of all blacks still lived in the South. Northern towns didn't have many blacks living there until WW2, when many went to work in the factories up north. Until then, blacks weren't encouraged to move north.
They ruined NCIS with the PC shi’ite.
Thanks for finding that. Man it’s been a long time!
“OConnor is downright communist.”
Except, of course, when it came to the redistribution of HIS money.
I’ll be watching. Tim Allen’s book “I’m Not Really Here” was interesting and thoughtful... glad he’s doing this.
I would LOVE to see Allen’s character say his classic, in-every-film line to OBummer: “You’re a sad, strange little man.”
That was part of the 1877 Compromise. In return for the restoration of white democracy, the South agreed to sit on the black population. They were able to move north in only small numbers because the jobs they could handle were being filled by European immigants. The Cotton industry continue to dominate the Southern economy, but the old land-owning class had been broken by the war. The lost their slaves, but equally bad, they had lost their accumulated wealth and their best and brightest had been killed or maimed in the war. The English had found new markets elsewhere, and so the return on cotton was never again as great. No second act for the Southerns who had created and dominated the ante-bellum USA.
Liberals like that part in Mark where Jesus talking about the rich and the camel. But some how now matter how much money they have, they never sell all they have and give it to the poor. Instead they buy homes in Switzerland.
You might want to try “Copper” on BBC America. It’s about the Irish and the blacks in New York city at the end of the Civil War. Very entertaining, but definitely of an adult nature. Prostitution, drinking, guns, murder, thievery, etc.
Until the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act allowed states to pass "right-to-work" laws, making Southern states increasingly attractive for business.
Tim supported Obama in the last election.
