No. It's a matter of conservation of energy. The skydiver had potential energy (height above ground) but not much kinetic energy (started from essentially zero velocity). Returning from orbit, a spacecraft has more potential energy (higher altitude and greater mass) and a heckuva lot more kinetic energy (orbital velocity). Both “burn off” that energy returning to the Earth, but the spacecraft has a lot more to get rid of than the skydiver.

Fun with numbers: (2008 results for President)
Barack Obama (Democrat) 69,498,516 52.93%
John McCain (Republican) 59,948,323 45.65%
If the vote total in 2012 were the same as 2008, but 6 million Obama voters support Romney instead, Romney wins. But is it possible that 15 or 20 million people are so disgusted with Obama that they would support Romney? Imagine a vote total of 49 million for Obama and 79 million for Romney!

That makes sense.
Don’t shuttles travel at something like 15,000-24,000 mph in space? That’s coming-in pretty “hot”... don’t they turn ‘em around and do a burn to slow down?

(REMEMBER THE 2010 MOVEMENT)
Romney hasn’t been at Bain for 20 years, and the public in general has no idea what he did or didn’t do while he was there. Obama has been there 4 years and the overwhelming number of voters know EXACTLY what he has done. Yeah, go ahead and go after Romney on his performance on Bain. Go ahead, make his day.

I was working at
March AFB Tower one day and an inbound KC-10 reported a near-miss with a group of free-falling parachute jumpers while the tanker was descending from 6,000 MSL: down to 4,000 MSL.
The jumpers were at
Perris Jump Zone and hadn't asked for permission before jumping.
It was close, very close, and thed KC-10 was doing about 250 knots.

i’ve only been tandem jumped twice - and not the adrenaline junkie type so i could have lived a happy life without it - i was shamed into it by watching an old woman jump and a kid in a chair jump
i tell people to do the little training thing - put on a jump suit - because everyone’s butt looks good in a jumpsuit - get in the plane and then decide
no one has ever backed out in the plane or regretted the jump
and i don't think any of the guys have ever been peed or puked on

17,450 mph for an orbital altitude of 200 miles, assuming a circular track. There is a “retro” burn to slow the velocity to just below orbital speed so the spacecraft starts to contract the air, but most of the braking is from air friction.

I 've got 26+ years with the USAF Air Traffic Control and 5 years with the FAA Air Traffic Control.
All of it or 99 % of it in the towers. I don't like the FAA either.

my forte is flipping the burgers at the dz and spouting safety lectures - and worrying about how they packed the canopy - saying ‘no swooping’
all of it gets ignored except the burgers
wet blankets are a drag but every dz needs one

Rush, it WAS pushed, Christine Lamb said so, that she was watching it in real-time. Are we to believe that she didn't pass the word?

Six hours the battle raged and no one seemed to care, no help was sent.. there's no answer for that, said Rush.
I disagree. Someone in Washington wanted Ambassador Stevens dead.
Col. Hunt On The Newest Libyan Revelations (huge coverup!) WRKO Howie Carr radio interview
Col. Hunt says the attack in Benghazi went on for six hours -- all the while U.S. personnel under attack were in contact with personnel at all White House, State, CIA, DoD . . . agencies -- and nothing was done.
Did someone in Washington want Ambassador Stevens dead? Did the "know too much"? It would not be the first time.
In years past John Christopher Stevens, known as Chris, was described as "a 20-year Arabic-speaking veteran of the State Department who has been a senior diplomat in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and had postings in Damascus, Cairo and other Middle Eastern locales . . . [he has] a broad knowledge of the Arab world . . . [and] has a good deal of cross-cultural comfort . . . [professionally he] has an unflappable, but not nerdy personality. . . He listens to people. Hes the quintessential diplomat."
Seems to me that Stevens surely knew a lot given his contacts and savvy. Did he know too much? Was he threatening to tell all about how radical Islam's successes were greater than one would expect in an "Arab Spring" -- more like an Arab Sprint for the Muslim Brotherhood encouraged by Washington? Appears to be a lot of Islamists infiltrating there. . . .
CNN found a seven-page handwritten journal.. that's all?

Re: call about David Hunt interview: What you called the “panic button” is the “duh” button. According to Hunt, it is automatic protocol-— no decision needed, no panic...AUTOMATIC.
Furthermore, Hunt said anyone who has ever been on watch in these command centers knows he is correct; it’s automatic.
He called it the elephant in the living room.
