The Mexican government is working with the US government on this. That is why the Mexican government did not raise a ruckus about Fast and Furious like they normally would. The guns were going to their chosen cartel.
Does it surprise anyone that the Feds who created fast and furious (and who named Obama’s political and social enemies domestic terrorists) would also aid in dealing drugs here? Anyone who thinks the Mexican government would stay out of the drug business does not understand the depth and tradition of corrpution in the Mexican government.
America has a long history of joining the chosen bad guy to knock the other bad guy.
Gilding the lily - people have always been willing to keep themselves dependent upon drugs without any help, as witness the plethora of people addicted to the legal mind-altering drug alcohol.
Only by turning our land of the free into a police state could they even hope to significantly reduce drugs - and even China and Iran have drug problems.
[The War on Drugs is] providing a massive amount of income for the governments via the judicial/law enforcement/incarceration complex.
That I agree with 100% - the War on Drugs is just another utopian big-government program that has failed for everyone but those paid to carry it out.
Are you kidding? they can't keep drugs out of prisons where people are already locked up for drugs.
No, I was speaking strictly about drugs crossing the border, not ones among the general population.
IMHO, government may have the authority to participate in points of entry, but nowhere does it have the authority to tell the people what they can consume.

I cannot express how totally happy it makes me to know someone else sees that big ole boondoggle for what it is. :-)
it’s true!!!
