RE :”
Tax cuts do spur job creation, and that does a great deal for our future. It reduces welfare and jobless outlays. In Reagans day, it doubled government receipts during his presidency. The down side? The Democrats tripled spending” Those darn Democrats do that every time. And under both Bush's too. And they managed to spend in spite of Boehner taking over the House, even though there is no filibuster in the House.
But dont worry, Romney will be different you can bet on it, but if he doesnt I bet we will be told that deficits are good again. So it wont matter how big they get if they are good again. And it wont be his fault. It will be those Demy-crats that do it, if it is bad, but not if it is good.

I agree. More pointedly, I agree that the Republicans have adopted the Left's desire to grow government, and debts. So what should we do? It's my take that we advocate for more sound governance from the Republicans, and try to enlarge the portion of the Republican party that is Tea Party oriented. And if you retort that even Tea Party members seem to morph once in Washington, I'd be sympathetic to the view. I still believe that we have a better chance with more Tea Party members in the mix. The Tea Party folks have at least said they understand Conservative principles somewhere along the way, and that's more than we can say about most Republicans these days.
But dont worry, Romney will be different you can bet on it, but if he doesnt I bet we will be told that deficits are good again.
Frankly, this is why I won't be voting for him. One thing that he undeniably has going for him, is that he isn't pro-Islam, anti-Israel, and most importantly anti-U. S. (not that all his policies will be pro-U. S., because they won't be) And so, I won't vote for him? I expect you to be validated on these talking points, and I don't want to have backed him at the polling booth. Would I rather see him in there than Obama? Yes. That's a somewhat hollow yes though. Neither of these guys is going to represent Conservatism well. We can only hope he surprises us in some ways. Even that will most likely be a vapor-trail in time...
So it wont matter how big they get if they are good again. And it wont be his fault. It will be those Demy-crats that do it, if it is bad, but not if it is good.
To a number of folks on the Right, you'll be correct. To many of us who trashed Bush for doing what he was doing, we'll continue to hold our side's feet to the fire when they rule as Democrats. And as predicted, we'll have to fight folks right here on the forum to do so.

(We should ignore the absurd peripheral, and focus on the absurd Obama. People died. He lied!)

BTW: There was no filibuster. There were also not enough vetoes in those days. Reagan could have done better. I will say that he had a number of things on his plate with the cold war and the Democrats being angry about which direction he was leading the nation.

Maybe we know how the leftists feel when Obama didn't close gitmo after all, buddied up with Wall Street, etc.
But hey, maybe it will be worth it when they draw up a balanced budget amendment :)
