Actually Virginia was willing to stay in the union(mistake IMO) until the "Butcher" decided to raise an Army of invasion. The CSA would have been 7 states and would have been a threat to no one had a less blood thirty USA President been elected.

The following is the proclamation of Gov. LETCHER, of Virginia:

Whereas, Seven of the States formerly composing a part of the United States have, by authority of their people, solemnly resumed the powers granted by them to the United States, and have framed a Constitution and organized a Government for themselves, to which the people of those States are yielding willing obedience, and have so notified the President of the United States by all the formalities incident to such action, and thereby become to the United States a separate, independent and foreign power; and whereas, the Constitution of the United States has invested Congress with the sole power "to declare war," and until such declaration is made, the President has no authority to call for an extraordinary force to wage offensive war against any foreign Power: and whereas, on the 15th inst., the President of the United States, in plain violation of the Constitution, issued a proclamation calling for a force of seventy-five thousand men, to cause the laws of the United states to be duly executed over a people who are no longer a part of the Union, and in said proclamation threatens to exert this unusual force to compel obedience to his mandates; and whereas, the General Assembly of Virginia, by a majority approaching to entire unanimity, declared at its last session that the State of Virginia would consider such an exertion of force as a virtual declaration of war, to be resisted by all the power at the command of Virginia; and subsequently the Convention now in session, representing the sovereignty of this State, has reaffirmed in substance the same policy, with almost equal unanimity; and whereas, the State of Virginia deeply sympathizes with the Southern States in the wrongs they have suffered, and in the position they have assumed; and having made earnest efforts peaceably to compose the differences which have severed the Union, and having failed in that attempt, through this unwarranted act on the part of the President; and it is believed that the influences which operate to produce this proclamation against the seceded States will be brought to bear upon this commonwealth, if she should exercise her undoubted right to resume the powers granted by her people, and it is due to the honor of Virginia that an improper exercise of force against her people should be repelled. Therefore I, JOHN LETCHER, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, have thought proper to order all armed volunteer regiments or companies within this State forthwith to hold themselves in readiness for immediate orders, and upon the reception of this proclamation to report to the Adjutant-General of the State their organization and numbers, and prepare themselves for efficient service. Such companies as are not armed and equipped will report that fact, that they may be properly supplied.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Commonwealth to be affixed, this 17th day of April, 1861, and in the eighty-fifth year of the Commonwealth.

JOHN LETCHER.

Did you investigate the information I gave you or not? I know its correct, as much as you appear to wish otherwise.

For one who is so totally opposed to political-correctness, per your tagline, you seem awful PC.

Of course you can leave the club. Buy a plane ticket and leave. Bye.

Of course a state can leave the country, by amendment certainly, by federal law probably, or by successful case with the supreme court as original jurisdiction.

You can’t leave by assaulting the members, and stealing club property. You can assault the members, but there is a price for that. They might defend themselves. You can steal club property, but there is a price for that, where ever law and honor are respected.

For their illegal acts, Virginia et al. lost that part of sovereignty that they had not delegated to the US. That partial sovereignty was graciously restored at the end of reconstruction. Their illegal acts had no legal effect, per Texas v. White.

And in 1861 the grand total of persons serving their lifetime apprenticeship was 18. All old retainers, whose retention in service was along the lines of a retirement. They could not be sold, they could not be turned out. They could not be pursued if they left.

Lee admitted service, as a General in an army which made war against the United States, despite his citizenship, his service to, and education provided by the United States.

Treason. Lee himself said secession was revolution. Revolution is always treason unless you win. He didn’t win.

LOL! Texas vs. White. A SCOTUS comprised of all Lincoln/union men. I’m shocked that they decided in his favor. A decision that ranks right up there with the ObamunistCare is legal decision and the Abortion is in the Constitution decision. Of course, the common thing to all three is their subservience to liberal/socialist doctrine.

Yup. That’s the side you play for.

What do you expect from a communist sympathizer? He should go back to DU.

“I’m not a saying “the south will rise again,””

It’s the same tactic used by liberals. When you no longer have any hope of winning the debate, denigrate your opponent.

So now anyone who doesn't blindly support the Confederacy is a commie or a liberal? This is getting funnier and funnier.

...I don't even live in the south anymore (unfortunately.)

Why don't you, if living elsewhere is such a misfortune? If I were living somewhere I didn't like at all then I'm sure I'd leave and move somewhere more congenial.

PC? Son, what in the wide world of sports ever gave you that idea? I’m as far from being politically correct as one can get. PC. What a laugh. Hells bells half the time I have to tread lightly here or I’d get bounced in a heartbeat.

Of course all the so called “Confederate Generals” were confederates. Can’t trust them....

See, how that works? What a maroon...

It'd be a nice life if I could just up and move whenever and where ever I wanted! I'd love to escape the northeast, but at the moment I can't.

Someday, I hope.

I would hope that if circumstances required that I live in the South that I'd be courteous enough not to dis the region that's providing my home and livelihood. But that's just me.

What loyalty should I have to this place? Its full of freaks and liberals, the taxes are high and the laws restrictive.

Its a nice place to visit, but not to live.

Then get the hell out. I-95 runs southbound lanes as well as northbound lanes. You remind me of all those Yankees that Southerners love to complain about. The ones who move south and then whine about the food, the weather, the surroundings, the costs, and how things would be much better if only they did it the way they did back home. Nice to see that such behavior spans both regions.

"Then get the hell out."

Again, it must be very nice to just up and leave whenever you feel like it. I'm planning on leaving, but what with finances, jobs, etc, it'll be several years at least before I can brush new england dust off my boots once and for all.

As for the rest of your comment--I've lived in the south. I like the food, know the weather, the surroundings etc etc.

And if the south starts doing things "the way its done back home," then I'm resigning and going to mars.
