Maybe all that training I received back in the ‘80s could come in handy after all... REFORGER et al... Always was just a little miffed to have learned French and German only to never use it in the field. Ended up with a crash course in Spanish for use way down south of here. Once had a waiter in a Mexican restaurant ask me what Spanish I knew and I think it nearly scared most of the wait staff to death... Things like “drop your weapons and you will be allowed to live” and stuff like that. A benefit of that encounter was that from then own they always remembered my “usual” drink and entree. They just bring it to my table...
