Even after the fallout from last week's presidential debate, Barack Obama retains a 4-point lead in the state of Ohio and pulls a majority of the vote in a poll released this afternoon by CNN.
Obama leads Romney in the state, 51 percent to 47 percent. The president has consistently led in the battleground state in credible public polling and internal surveys on both sides of the 2012 race.
The results from the CNN poll underscore the continuing challenge the Electoral College poses to Romney: while he has gained in national presidential polls, Romney has only the narrowest of paths to winning 270 electoral votes if he cannot improve his standing in Ohio. The CNN survey is the first widely trusted poll to emerge from the Buckeye State since the debate last week.
On the other hand, Obama also won’t be able to “get tough” with Romney without appearing to be a jerk.
Keep in mind Obama always pushes for podium debates....obviously he must prefer them. I think Romney could do very well at a town hall debate.
In the next debate, I think anything but a clear Romney loss is a win for Romney.
A tie is a win for Romney.
A clear win for Romney, and aside from having to endure another week of ad hominem attacks from the media/democrats, he has a fairly clear path to victory.
If that happens, my bet would be that Obama will launch some kind of attack on Libya (drone, missile, etc.) to show he’s a tough guy, hoping to wag the dog.
You are correct. We DO have party registration here in Ohio.
If you standing at the front of some grocery store...as a Democrat...and some idiot walked up to do a poll, and they ask you if you are a Republican or Democrat....it wouldn’t take much to grin and say the opposite of what you are. That’s why polls are worthless. Back in February, when they called me here in Virginia to ask if I was supporting Romney or Ron Paul, I answered Ron Paul. There’s no reason to take any of this polling business serious...we all joke about now.
BS poll.
No trust.
Their wording would be skewed.
Their polling workers would be skewed and all registered dems wanting their results.
Dismissed.
reduced from the magical 8 point lead that he never had. What clowns.
They also have Obama ahead among those over 50 years old. Probably the only state he’s winning that demo.
You can be depressed while the rest of us laugh at CNN.
Here’s something Romney/Ryan can talk up in Ohio:

CNN must have gone out of its way to show Obama leading, because Rasmussen has Romney leading in OH, AND ARG poll has Romney up with a +9 D sampling.
The actual poll. There are no internals offered, yours are meaningless.
And the fact that there are no internals at all, tell me they oversampled Democrats by 20 points or more.
