Sesame Workshop Response to Campaign Ads
Sesameworkshop.org ^
Posted on 10/09/2012 9:11:20 AM PDT by Perdogg
Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.

Translation: They don’t want this to escalate to the point where Romney or Ryan put out a soundbyte that tells the public how much they are making on merchandising!

If only that were true.
Otherwise, Oscar is telling Bird to shut up before he blows their easy gig.

First AARP, then Big Bird.
I wonder if Biden will ask Romney to stop quoting him.

sure.. they’ll comply, just like the complied with NBC when they asked on Friday to remove their footage from an ad that has been running for the last five days.

The IRS needs to act on this, a blatant political ad which should eliminate their nonprofit(tax exempt?) status. An audit should be done on the Unrelated Business Income they receive.

Non partisan but look who the "street gang" was hanging out with.

Telegraph headline:
>Michelle Obama and Jill Biden team up with Sesame Street
Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice-President Joe Biden, teamed up with Rosita and Elmo when they visited Sesame Street as part of the White House’s ‘Joining Forces’ Initiative in New York.
To: immadashell
Sesame Workshop did not run the ad, 0bama did. If Sesame Workshop ran the ad, they would be in trouble with the IRS. In fact, even though they didn’t run the ad, they probably had to ask that the ad be pulled in order to maintain their tax exempt status, which they have done.
No tax consequences here for Big Bird.

I agree with you. I think its grossly unfair and frankly counter-productive to blame Sesame Workshop for this ad.
If people on FR have a beef with PBS for its programming or even its very existence, then fine...make your point, campaign for change. But its utterly reprehensible to slap them when they actually do the right thing. Surely that is the kind of behavior we should be applauding?
