The Supreme Court Is Going To End Affirmative Action As We Know It

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments Wednesday in one of the most politically charged cases of the term – a challenge to the University of Texas at Austin's affirmative action policy.
The Supreme Court last upheld affirmative action in 2003, ruling the University of Michigan could use race as one factor to achieve a "critical mass" of minorities necessary for a diverse student body.
But a lot has changed since Sandra Day O'Connor wrote that opinion, including her replacement by right-leaning Samuel Alito.
Here's why the current court will probably kill or severely limit affirmative action: Alito, O'Connor's replacement, belonged to the Concerned Alumni of Princeton, which opposed affirmative action at the university, The New York Times has reported. Justice Anthony Kennedy, a key swing vote on the largely court, wrote the dissent in 2003 that opposed the majority's decision to uphold the Michigan affirmative action policy. At least four Supreme Court justices decided to review the Fifth Court decision that upheld UT's affirmative action policy. It's not too common for the high court to review a decision just to affirm it, former Supreme Court clerk Christopher Walker pointed out to Business Insider.
At UT, the school got much more diverse by admitting students in the top 10 percent of each high school in the state. Separately, the school used race as a factor for students who didn't make it in through the top 10 percent program.
The nation's highest court will likely rule that both these policies aren't necessary to achieve diversity, top Supreme Court lawyer Carter Phillips has told Business Insider.

I think we are going to find that Roberts had completely flipped to the Dark Side. His contrived and convoluted support of Obamacare was so bizarre that it simply has to be the result of a radical shift in his mindset.
My guess is that the Washington popularity bubble got to him. He now wants to be lauded by the Washington Post, the mainstream media, and the chi chi set at the Georgetown cocktail parties. In more than 35 years in Washington, I’ve seen it happen time and again.
Harry Truman called it “Potomac Fever.” And I think Roberts has a terminal case of it.
I hope you're wrong. It's difficult for me to believe he could turn out so horribly bad. I remember praying for him during his nomination process.
I, too, prayed for him doing the hearings. But, it’s very difficult for most people to withstand the temptations of playing to the gallery in Washington. The pundits of the Dark Side made Roberts believe that the only way he could avoid going down in history as a neanderthal was to come join their perverse party. And, I’m afraid their siren song was just too much for him to withstand.

I don’t want to sound like a witch, but I felt that there was something wrong with him when I watched him on tv when he was nominated, or confirmed. He looked like a zombie. Very peculiar facial expression. His little boy misbehaved and Roberts had no idea of how to deal with it. I knew then that he was not conservative.
My theory on the court is that Justice Roberts sides with the left on the subject of God given rights. I think that Roberts and the rest of the lefties don’t believe in God given right, that they believe that all power comes from the State, including the rule of law and the courts.
I’ll believe it when I see it.

isn’t this the same court that refused to follow law in the HC decision? why does anyone think they will actually follow the law and the constitution?
I am not counting on ANYTHING positive from this court now that it is comprised of three distinct factions:
4 liberals, 4 conservatives, and 1 moron.
This transition seems to be a regular reoccurence for our side. So, is it real transition or hiding of beliefs up front.

I grew up in Austin and graduated from UT. Used to even recruit engineers there for a major company. They told me only Blacks would be hired, and a white resume was DOA.
Some of my best friends are T-sips...but escaped the curse and are conservatives.
We (A Texas based company) had a job fair at UT (Austin) and were sued by a female applicant. One of the interviewers said to her, "come in hon."
She sued for sexual harrassment, we didn't say 'hon' to the guys. We settled for $50k
My son (Dr blam) flunked his first (party) year at UT. That was his only year there.
