“Stupid and irrelevant.”

John Stewart spent most of his show last night attacking Romney over “Big Bird”.

The media smells blood with this. It might not work this time, but the chance to ridicule Romney over this is too much for the haters to pass up.

Born out of ignorance - Big Bird is in no danger no matter whether or not taxpayers continue to subsidize it - the President of the company which produces Sesame Street has herself stated this. It’s yet another false narrative.

PBS is also itself a private organization - it is not government owned or controlled - it just accepts grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. PBS could sell itself off and disappear at anytime regardless of the Federal grants. Likewise, it could continue to operate as a nonprofit organization without them just as it does now - it would just have to diversify its fundraising / revenue sources. John Stewart and his fellow supposedly outraged celebrities could pony up their own cash and hold fundraisers to more than make up for this and create an endowment for PBS and / or the CPB.

This is a ridiculous argument. Nothing coming from the left is factual as usual to create a false narrative and perception as to what PBS is and is not.
