ROCHESTER, Mich. - Paul Ryan abruptly ended an interview with an ABC affiliate in Flint after the reporter tried to grill the vice presidential candidate on gun violence and tax cuts.
"Does the country have a gun problem?" WJRT's Terry Camp asked in a one-on-one interview.
"This country has a crime problem," Ryan responded. After the anchor pressed him on whether he thinks the country has a "gun problem," the self-described deer hunter elaborated, "If you take a look at the gun laws we have, I don't even think President Obama is proposing more gun laws. We have good, strong gun laws."
Camp challenged him again, and Ryan said, "We have to make sure we enforce our laws. We have lots of laws that aren't being properly enforced. We need to make sure we enforce these laws. But the best thing to help prevent violent crime in the inner cities is to bring opportunity to the inner cities." He credited the work of charities, civic groups, and churches with helping to instill "good discipline, good character" in civil society.
In an unlikely turn, the WJRT reporter followed up by asking, "And you can do all that by cutting taxes? With a big tax cut?"
"Those are your words, not mine," Ryan responded curtly. His press secretary Michael Steel interrupted from off-camera, "Thank you very much, sir."
As Ryan began taking off his mic, he commented, "That was kind of strange, you're trying to stuff words in people's mouths?"
Camp replied, "Well, I don't know if it's strange."

Michigan Capitol Confidential is snagging all the decent Michigan reporters as the papers go under.

Didn’t sound like him.
I’m so glad the popcorn maker arrived today.
And the coconut oil will be here on the 11th.
All just in time for the Ryan/Biden debate.
That is a gold find there.
wow.
Bookmark.
I have a hunch the Ryan/Biden debate may be just as entertaining.
What date was that posted?
Back during the primaries.

There were more, none knocking Dems. Surprised me they were made on a company account.
Guess the Ogang were getting bad reviews for using the word “liar” to describe their opponents so they switched to the word “dishonest”. Yeah, ok, that should fix their fix.
Ryan did not cut him off... he didn’t end the interview... he even questioned the reporter after someone behind the scenes cut the interview abruptly... Ryan is a bad a$$... he stood up to the reporter...
Sheesh, that is pathetic and I’d bet you’re right.
Same goes for a lawless president.
“Good to see that Ryan instinctively knows that no one ever lost points for beating up on the media. They do not deserve respect.”
And that reminds me of General Tecumseh Sherman. People mostly recognize him for burning down the South but I remember him for actually saying that all journalists and reporters should be shot as they report to the enemy anyways.
“William Tecumseh Sherman: If I had my choice I would kill every reporter in the world but I am sure we would be getting reports from hell before breakfast.”
