Thanks for the prayers, All....I got a call from my Mom about 4:15p. “Do you think you can come home. Dad has fallen, and there is blood all over the bedroom carpet, and his head is bleeding more than I think I can handle.” He is on Warfarin and all bleeding has to be paid attention to in case it won’t stop. Home I went.

He looked like he was ready for Halloween, with blood everywhere. He was lying down with a cold compress on his head, but I got a compress on his head and off we went to the hospital. They came right away with a wheelchair and a tech came out and put a new pressure bandage on and wound it all around his head and then we waited. What a sight in the ER waiting room. After about an hour (they were full and REALLY busy) they took us back into the ER and he ended up in “Hall18”...a bed in the hall. Everyone going by was treated to a guy covered in blood. LOL! (They were still full when we left.)

After about another hour a tech, the same from when we first came, and a doc came and they unwound the bandage....blood started shooting out in about an 8” squirt....squirting everywhere as the tech trying to get the pressure in the right place and the doc starting trying to get the squirting stopped. More pads, more squirting blood, another doctor, more squirting in another direction and about 10 stitches later they got it stopped and the gash stitched up. Then another tech came and cleaned him up, and after about a half hour they came and took blood and then to the cat scan. Finally the doc came back, said his tests were all good and we could go home. Got home about 9:30p.

Into the kitchen, food for both my Mom and Dad, and I went to my computer to check in.....mini scream from my Mom and a LOUD thud! Rush to the kitchen and he had fallen again. Hit nothing on the way down, but he was down. He wanted a pillow and to be left alone. No, we have to get you up and to bed. “Leave me alone!” No...so it took a while but he made it to his knees and was able to help us get him on his feet. The whole way to his room he kept saying, “I can do it myself”. No, hold onto my arm...repeat, repeat. Got him to bed with repeated instruction to wake my Mom if he needed to get up, and not to go ANYWHERE without help.

I will have a walker when I go home tonight. I have been fighting the walker battle for months, but now there is no discussion...HE HAS TO USE ONE. His balance is now a bigger issue.

He was up before I left for work and all extremities are working. He has to be sore from 2 falls, but everything works.
