(Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney delivered a sweeping critique on Monday of President Barack Obama's handling of threats in the Middle East, saying Obama's lack of leadership had made the volatile region more dangerous.

Romney only says that because it is true.
It’s not just weak. The SOB is in bed with our enemies.
Hammer the butt-buddy for leading from behind...but never turn your back on him!;-)
As they used to say in NYC...if you find a quarter on Bleecker...kick it to Broadway (before bending over to pick it up).
Obama is as gay as they come...and just an disingenuous and unethical.
He's on the "down low" in all areas of his life!
I was mainly referring to his giving away the store to the Russians on nukes and missile defense. The emerging ChiComs, Iran, North Korea, others will benefit immensely. Are you seriously doubting Romney would be substantially better on national defense than that treasonous, commie, Islamo-facist-supporting POS Obama?
rmlew: “I’m a Jewish conservative from NY.”

Than surely you know and understand Obama is NO friend to Israel either.
Romney is better on the communist issues. He just doesn't get Islamists.
It is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.Chapter III, The Art of War, Sun Tzu
"In a private conversation about the planned U.S.-led NATO missile defense system in Europe, President Barack Obama asked outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for space on the issue.
This is my last election, Obama told Medvedev. After my election I have more flexibility.
I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir, Medvedev said, referring to incoming President Vladimir Putin."

Obama was talking with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev when neither of them realized that their conversation was being picked up by microphones. Here is what they said:
Obama: On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved, but its important for him to give me space.
Medvedev: Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you ...
Obama: This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.
Medvedev: I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.
This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility. That statement tells us much about the presidents mindset.
The specific mention of missile defense is worrisome enough. Mr. Obama has retreated from the missile defense plan that was negotiated with European allies during the George W. Bush administration. Apparently, he is signaling Moscow that he intends to retreat further. The clear implication from the presidents comments is that he cannot tell the American people before the election what he plans to do after the election.
In addition, there is the phrase on all these issues, implying more is at stake than just missile defense.

When it comes to keeping America safe, we shouldnt be too flexible:

Those who claim to be friends can also be idiots who harm you.
Appeasement: From ObamaCare to recess appointments, honoring the Constitution has not been an administration hallmark. But when it comes to betraying secrets to mollify the Russians, it becomes a document the president hides behind.
It was bad enough that the 2012 defense authorization bill signed by President Obama set America on a downward spiral of military mediocrity.
He also issued a signing statement, something he once opposed, saying that language in the bill aimed at protecting top-secret technical data on the U.S. Standard Missile-3 linchpin of our missile defense might impinge on his constitutional foreign-policy authority.
Section 1227 of the defense law prohibits spending any funds that would be used to give Russian officials access to sensitive missile-defense technology as part of a cooperation agreement without first sending Congress a report identifying the specific secrets, how they'd be used and steps to protect the data from compromise.
The president is required to certify that any technology shared will not be passed on to third parties such as China, North Korea or Iran, that the Russians will not use transferred secrets to develop countermeasures and that the Russians are reciprocating in sharing missile-defense technology.

Obama Pledges Cuts in Missile Defense, Space, and Nuclear Weapons Programs
February 29, 2008 :: News

A video has surfaced of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama talking on his plans for strategic issues such as nuclear weapons and missile defense.
The full text from the video, as released, reads as follows:
Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.
First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[not win it -etl]
Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert [they are NOT on "hair-trigger alert" now -etl], and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.
You know where I stand. I've fought for open, ethical and accountable government my entire public life. I don't switch positions or make promises that can't be kept. I don't posture on defense policy and I don't take money from federal lobbyists for powerful defense contractors. As president, my sole priority for defense spending will be protecting the American people. Thanks so much.

2008 Pentagon Report (March 2008):
China's Growing Military Space Power
By Leonard David
Special Correspondent, SPACE.com
March 6, 2008
GOLDEN, Colorado A just-released Pentagon report spotlights a growing U.S. military concern that China is developing a multi- dimensional program to limit or prevent the use of space-based assets by its potential adversaries during times of crisis or conflict.
Furthermore, last year's successful test by China of a direct-ascent, anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon to destroy its own defunct weather satellite, the report adds, underscores that country's expansion from the land, air, and sea dimensions of the traditional battlefield into the space and cyber-space domains.
Although China's commercial space program has utility for non- military research, that capability demonstrates space launch and control know-how that have direct military application. Even the Chang'e 1 the Chinese lunar probe now circling the Moon is flagged in the report as showcasing China's ability "to conduct complicated space maneuvers a capability which has broad implications for military counterspace operations."

Ad plays Muslim Brotherhood card against Obama, but Romney strikes cautious tone on Egypt
By Daniel Treiman · September 19, 2012
A couple months ago, I suggested that relations with Egypt might become a campaign issue, particularly with the U.S. visit of the countrys newly elected president, Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Sure enough, a conservative group Let Freedom Ring is airing an ad in key swing states hammering President Obama by suggesting that hes soft on the Muslim Brotherhood. The ad emphasizes the Muslim Brotherhoods anti-Israel stance.
The ad raps Obama for continuing U.S. aid to Egypt even after the Brotherhoods rise to power. But cutting off U.S. aid to Egypt is not a step that Republican nominee Mitt Romney has called for either. (Romney has said that U.S. aid should be conditioned upon Egypt upholding its treaty with Israel, safeguarding the rights of minorities and protecting foreign embassies.)
In the wake of the recent storming of the U.S. embassy grounds in Cairo, Obama staked out a tough rhetorical line on Egypt. I dont think that we would consider them an ally, but we dont consider them an enemy, President Obama said in an interview with Telemundo. I think its still a work in progress, but certainly in this situation, what were going to expect is that they are responsive to our insistence that our embassy is protected, our personnel is protected.
In a recent interview with ABC News, Romney declined to endorse Obamas characterization, instead stressing the importance of Egypt remaining a U.S. ally. Romney called for bringing Egypt closer to us and establishing relationships with the countrys people and government.
Heres the transcript of the Egypt portion of Romneys interview:
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: How about on a broader policy in the Middle East? The president said last night that Egypt is not an ally. Do you agree? And what would you do about it?
MITT ROMNEY: Well, thats obviously not a reflection of our official policy. American official policy is that Egypt is an ally of the United States. Of course, we recognize that Egypt has gone through a dramatic change in government. And what their status will be going forward in terms of the relationship with our nation is something which which Im sure will be developing over time.
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: What would you do?
MITT ROMNEY: That being said, I would like to bring Egypt closer to us. I think its important for them to understand that its an advantage to have a close relationship with the United States, to be an ally of the United States. And for that to continue, Egypt must honor their agreement with Israel, for peace with Israel. Egypt must also respect the rights of minorities in their nation. And Egypt must also protect the lives and sovereignty of our embassy and of our installations in Egypt. This is these elements are all essential for us to have the kind of
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: But right now
MITT ROMNEY: relationship weve had.
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: you believe they excuse me. Right now, you believe they are an ally?
MITT ROMNEY: Well, right now, officially, Egypt is an ally of the United States, under the policy of the United States. The presidents saying they are not may reflect the fact that theres been a change in government and a change in relationship as a result of that. But they are today, officially, an ally of the United States.
And George, this nation has a population of 80 million people. This is the heart of the Arab world. Its important for us to establish relationships with the people there, with the government there, to draw them into a sphere of influence such that they theyre a peaceable nation, that they encourage peace in the region.
Our relationship with Egypt is very, very important. And I would want them to remain an ally. I dont want to see that official status change. And I hope the president takes the steps for that to occur. And if I were president, I would do virtually everything in my power to make sure they understand what the requirements are to remain an ally of the United States, and to help them understand how important it is for them to be an ally of ours-
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Lets talk ab
