What's your reaction to Governor Brown's order to allow an early switch to winter blend gasoline, designed to bring down sky-high pump prices? the right move at the right time
too little, too late
an unacceptable change to environmental protections
Vote
Too little, too late winning by a hugh bunch!
Unintended Consequence: Lots of CA drivers are going to say, “So that’s how much money we waste every year on these stupid gasoline blends.”
Shame on both of you.
I did it too. ;>)
I feel so green now.
I hope you only voted once...
the right move at the right time 11.61% (31 votes)
too little, too late 64.42% (172 votes)
an unacceptable change to environmental protections 23.97% (64 votes)

Purely political and now he’s got Sen Feinstein in there calling for Federal Investigations of oil companies. It’s a stupid law in the first place and I think it was passed by the public as one of our never ending Propositions. So in a sense Californians asked for it (But, I’m going to check on if it was a Proposition — anyone else know?)
“I hope you only voted once...”
Your bad.
And now I am bad too.
Feels...wonderful.
Haven’t found the answer to my question above (on Summer Winter Gas being a Calif. proposition) BUT .... am watching Lou Dobbs right now and his teaser is “a problem entirely of California’s own making.” I’ll see what he has to say.
Grandstanding is what Jerry Brown does the best, and this is Jerry Brown grandstanding. His mouth is moving. He feels better when his mouth moves. Slaps his hands together, looks in the mirror, smiles to hisself, and says “ah done good”.
OK for all you waiting breathlessly for my answer to my own question (smile) here is what I’ve found out.
Cal pays the 2nd highest gas taxes in nation.
18.4c for Feds
and $10.00 in taxes on a 15 gallon fill up.
An expert on after Lou Dobbs show said: (3 points)
— Cal problem is its refusal to use own resources
— Cal’s refusal to hook up a pipeline to western sources of oil. So expensive to bring into state.
— The Feds refusal to allow offshore drilling.
NO on Prop 30 on Nov 6.
Jerry Brown’s quote “temporary” sales tax increase. Have you ever seen a “temporary” tax?
But also found this on internet. We pay taxes on taxes!!!!
“For every gallon of gasoline they buy, California motorists pay a federal excise tax of 18.4 cents and a state excise tax that is 35.7 cents now but fluctuates annually. The local sales taxes average 3.1% on the cost of gas and on the excise taxes, essentially a tax on taxes. That amounts to more than $10 in taxes for a 15-gallon tank of gasoline.
Those rates, according to the Board of Equalization, gave the state $5.2 billion for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 and local governments a total of $1.5 billion.
Most of the local gas-tax pot is earmarked by various laws for special purposes, including public safety, health, social services and transportation. But a little more than a third of the proceeds goes to the cities and counties to spend as they like.”
Same way that Obama won the White House... Republicans ran the 'least offensive' candidate, IE, the most liberal Republican in the field, and shock among shocks, she crashed and burned, just like she did at eBay.
And what should be a walk away for any warm body, the same statement might be asked next year about Obama, with the same answer: We nominated the only former governor to approve government mandated health insurance and accept homosexuals calling themselves married.
One day, Republicans might want to try, you know, nominating conservative candidates again.
Agreed.
