Mitt Romney in a major speech Monday will call for a change of course in U.S. foreign policy -- saying the recent, deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya is part of a profound upheaval and that hope is not a strategy.
The speech will mark one of Romneys final opportunities before Election Day to show his potential as a world leader -- amid political turmoil in the Middle East.
The attacks on America last month should not be seen as random acts. They are expressions of a larger struggle that is playing out across the broader Middle East -- a region that is now in the midst of the most profound upheaval in a century, Romney will say, according to speech excerpts provided by the Republican presidential nominees campaign.
I know the president hopes for a safer, freer, and a more prosperous Middle East allied with the United States. I share this hope, Romney continues. But hope is not a strategy. We cannot support our friends and defeat our enemies in the Middle East when our words are not backed up by deeds.
Romney is set to speak at Virginia Military Institute at 11:20 a.m. ET.

“I will not agree with Mitt on all issues...but BY GOD, this man loves America”
What a stunning contrast to Obama’s suffocating anti-Americanism and constant political pandering.
LOL -— Fox commentator called him “President.” That slip is beginning to happen more frequently.
Take heart..soon the can salute him as their CiC!
Then if he is to be believed he would pull our funding of this failure.
Some of it is pie in the sky..for example..Egypt is lost....
No one blamed Reagan for losing Iran!
So i am not worried about it hurting Mitt on election day, but it is sad that Egypt has been lost to the crazies...
If Obummer supproted the revolution in Iran in 2009 I don;t think Egypt would be as Lost as it is today.
God bless that piccolo player doing ‘Stars and Stripes’. I’ve played that many times and it’s NOT easy. LOL!
Love that song and the band sound great!
I’m in tears...
And I really like the way these cadets smiled and looked at him..they know.
I hope he does have what it takes. The Chicago Machine needs to be taken down and then exposed. Another four years will destroy us.
Yeah..but these were REALLY GOOD TELEPROMPTERS!!!
Wow what a surprise, the Brookings guy liked the speech! Pigs are flying somewhere...
They really seemed to like him.
Giving this speech gets Romney’s position on the record before Bob Shieffer tries to control the “debate” on foreign policy.
Earlier in the day, while puttering about, I heard something about a speech, something about Virginia, something about at Military school and foreign policy.
I figgered with all this hype that it was the President going to speak. All morning, advertising and going to cover this speech.
Hand to God I sit down and figure, well dag, Obama’s going to speak at a military school and so soon after he looked like the bafoon he is with that debate? I gotta see this.
Coulda fell off my chair when it was Romney!
It was Fox, true, but man I don’t recall a presidential contender getting such a sober lead up.
So for the heck of it I flipped to CNN. THEY COVERED THE SPEECH IN FULL AS WELL!!
I dunno what this means. If anything.
It’s like....Romney’s the leader now, we must capture his words. If this makes any sense.
Romney was masterful, he said that the current administration is misleading and misled with that silly movie riot story.
I couldn’t have changed a thing.
First two callers to C-Span.
Negative on the speech. MSM just can’t help but to provide cover for O......
Yes, and we ALL know what these Cadets were thinking too; Something to do with the current Traitor-In-Chief..
Narcissistic Punk - one of the very best descriptions of Obama I've heard.
They don’t screen the callers on C-SPIN so any Libtard can call the “Independent” and “Republican” lines.
I listened carefully, and to your point about our policy on the Syrian situation, he said he would find out who in the Assad opposition we can work with, and support THEM. He specifically mentioned in the speech that al qaeda is on the move in Libya, Syria and other places.
He pointed out that Assad is an Iranian puppet. I think this is a good point. To sit back and let Syria deteriorate into what it has, doing nothing, is not the best course. He pointed out that Syrians with better intentions than Assad OR al qaeda are angry and saddened that America has done nothing as they are slaughtered by the thousands.
What he seemed to say is, we need to be on the side of people who do want something better for themselves in their countries, NOT that we should choose between Assad and al qaeda (which basically means choosing NOTHING) while everyone else is slaughtered.
I have never prayed so deeply or with such urgency in my life as I am praying for this man to be elected.
I am quite simply terrified of four more years of the current president.
Thos e smiles were more telling than anything I have ever seen involving bam. Those cadets smiling...and speaking as well, because Mitt kept saying thank you to them one by one.
G-d is answering us.
