I live in a working class neighborhood. We have a lot of big old houses that no single family wants. They are too big to maintain and the utilities are too expensive. So most are now Section 8. Many have been subdivided into apartments. So you could have maybe 20 people living in these houses.

These homes were beautiful at one time. Now they look like crap. One
of them had a fire a few years ago. The fire actually improved the appearance of the house. Nearly all of them have broken windows and doors. I guess if someone else is paying for your home, you don't care.

The idea was to get low income people out of the slums and into better neighborhoods. But many of these people have turned these neighborhoods into the slums they once lived in.

It's the same in Chicago proper and in suburbs catering to section 8 and the thug/slug tenants it attracts. In Joliet and Aurora, IL, for instance, the government controlled section 8 buildings populated by blacks, were in such deplorable condition because of the abuse/neglect of its tenants, that tenants are being moved elsewhere so that these buildings can be refurbished/repaired. When the majority of black section 8 tenants move, they bring their total disregard for property and its upkeep, and they also bring their thug lifestyle and friends...and ruin it for the other section 8 tenants who wish to live in a clean, safe environment.

In Chicago, they build condos, apartment buildings and allow section 8 to live in these buildings, along side of those condo owners/apartment renters who paid market value/rent for their housing. It doesn't work...slobs/thugs can't live next to responsibile tax-paying, law abiding citizens...slobs/thugs dont’ give a damn about anything they don't have to pay for. And the safety and property values further pummel downward.
