Biden Takes 6 Days Off Campaign Trail
The Weekly Standard ^ | 10/7/12 | DANIEL HALPER

With just about a month until Election Day, Vice President Joe Biden is in the middle of taking nearly a week off the campaign trail. He will return to doing campaign events on Thursday, when he will debate Rep. Paul Ryan in the vice presidential debate.

On Friday, October 5, according to the White House, Biden spent the day working. In the morning, he was scheduled to attend the presidential daily briefing in the Oval Office, with President Obama. That afternoon Biden was to "meet with senior advisors," according to the White House.

For this weekend, the White House provided the following guidance: "The Vice President will be in Wilmington, Delaware. There are no public events scheduled."

As for the next three days, Biden will remain in Delaware. "On Monday through Wednesday, the Vice President will be in Wilmington, Delaware. There are no public events scheduled."

Meanwhile, Thursday, October 11, is a big day for Biden. "On Thursday, the Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden will travel to Danville, Kentucky. In the evening, the Vice President will participate in the Vice Presidential Debate at Centre College. Dr. Biden will also attend. This event is open to pre-credentialed media."

So while Biden is taking 6 days off the campaign trail at a crucial time in the presidential campaign, it's likely that he isn't completely off. He is said to be spending time with David Axelrod and other campaign advisers preparing for Thursday's debate.

>>My questions are why do they have to prepare at all? Do they not know their own positions? Do they not understand their own current economic and international policies?

Exactly.

I’m willing to grant that they would need to review strategies to deal with questions and attacks from the other side, some coaching on style and delivery, etc. But if they were really debating on substance, you have to wonder: Haven’t they been living this for the last four years?

I actually think he can be a total fool. I think Biden was bought and paid for and his owners didn’t want someone too bright who might connect the dots or ask questions. They wanted an amiable doofus who would do as he was told.

True, he’s a total liar. In his defense, I’m not sure he’s bright enough to actually know he’s lying. I think he either says what he’s told or just makes stuff up in an effort to not look clueless.

I have confidence that Ryan will do well. Ryan took 0bama apart (very politely but firmly) when the two squared off over budget issues. Google the YouTube of that. You’ll like it!

My only concern is if there is some policy area where Biden is more experienced than Ryan. I can’t imagine what that would be, though. Ryan is really immersed in policy, especially fiscal policy.

Biden Debate Prep

Day 1:
Sober up.

Day 2:
Retouch plugs. Tell Secret Service to ban spectators in wheelchairs.

Day 3:
Learn name of Republican VP candidate. Make list of phrases to avoid: “BFD” “Web site number” “back in chains” “big stick”
Learn to count past three.

Day 4:
Get someone to show him where Danville is on a map of Kentucky. Count letters in the word “jobs.”

Day 5:
Get someone to show him where Kentucky is on a map of the US. Get someone to explain to him what “literally” means.

Day 6:
Start drinking again.

RE :”66 is a keeper...”

We shall see.

I wouldn't join the 99% here who are sure that Biden will make another gaffe in that debate. He is going to try to do to Ryan what Cheney did to Edwards, plus go rabid mad Dog with all the stuff Dems wanted O to use on women, etc.

This should be good, and to see if Ryan is prepared,

i just thought the post in 66 was funny as hell...

ole sloe joe is retarded, but hes also an overbearing blowhard that has the ability to think hes right on every issue, and has been BSing his way thru for what, 4 decades ??? the retard thing might even be an act, maybe its even his angle to get laid...bwahahaha...

he does have the potential for being a ronco brand gaffe-a-matic as well, so time will tell if the debate is meaningful either way...all I know is that it screwed up my thurs nite plans, so screw em both...

What if retard Biden keeps Ryan on the defensive most? Not predicting it will happen as I am not predicting this one. But if he is able to do that, then will that mean Ryan needs another career? Getting whipped by a retard?
Or will the cult maintain that Ryan is the winner regardless and it's all part of the conspiracy that everyone else doesnt see it?

In other words : Will we hear "Even XX has admitted that Ryan won that debate..." ??
or instead hear "The media is biased, the moderator is biased, it is all lies...it is all a conspiracy.." ??
or hear " Ryan got whipped by a retard. What a disappointment he is"
???

Not to mention the press will be on its toes. Unlike lst time, the media will be ready to get spinning before the blogosphere sets anything in stone.

That's all well and good. The more time Plugs has to prepare, the better he'll be.

dude, we are talkin about slo joe biden, by definition, as unpredictable as anything can get...

the spin cycle is set for F-5 in both parties, depending on the 'performance' of joe...

actually, ryan could prolly sit this one out as the results are almost 100% and which joe shows up, and whether he can avoid being joe...
