Malia and Sasha Obama Will Eat Well at Sidwell Friends

**SNIP**
The post got me to looking at the Sidwell Friends' online menus, which look like Nora Pouillon put them together. I mean, look at some of these dishes: "Fennel & Arugula w/ Parmesan," " Organic Pear & Gorgonzola Salad," " All Natural Curried Chicken Salad," and "Pumpkin Bread." Hell, I remember when french fries were considered exotic on junior high cafeteria menus.
But I must say, I think I spot a mini-trend among gourmets and budding gourmets in the city: The Sidwell middle school/upper school menu will feature Brunswick stew on Thursday, Dec. 4.

Brunswick stew
I’m assured it will be made with free range chicken,
organic corn and hand pulled pork substitute.
My mother shopped at a small town grocery butcher store. She’d ask how much meat she’d need to feed X number of people. When I ended up dating his stock boy, he’d ask my mother if my boy friend was coming to diner and tell her she needed 2 lbs more if he was. Most of my life it’s been a running joke that teenage boys will eat one out of house and home. The regulations are shear insanity.
Guidelines that fit a 4 ft 8 in freshman girl are not going to work for a 6 ft senior football player. It’s plain common sense. The morons that came up with this should be out of jobs post haste.
Ducks who live under glass houses should not throw eggs.
Sure, I had that all the time when I was in 7th grade. But sometimes it was hard to choose between the scampi and the lobster fra diavolo. Some weeks I had one, other weeks the other.
ARUGALA???? OMG!!!
"And let's be clear: It's not enough just to limit ads for foods that aren't healthy.
It's also going to be critical to increase marketing for foods that are healthy. "~Michelle Obama
Your parenthetical addition to the title is poorly thought out. While the food at Sidwell may be exotic and expensive, it’s not by any stretch of the imagination high calorie fare.
I am serious, is there an unnatural shrimp?
I think Tom Cruise is.
Tofu Sliders
LMAO - how the better class lives
I wonder if the Obamas have the kids’ new school picked out for the second semester?
From what I see, the “first brats” eat very well.

I suspect they're trying to differentiate between wild and farm raised shrimp. And yes, many aquacultured shrimp come from the far east and are raised in a sewage stew of feces and industrial pollutants.
Private school? As long as taxpayer money isn’t being used, they can serve whatever they want, I couldn’t care less.
Yeppp.... that’s why I always check the country of origin. I will happily pay more for USA/wild-caught seafood than the imported/Chinese version.
