NEW YORK The number of gay and bisexual characters on scripted broadcast network TV is at its highest-ever level in the season ahead, according to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. The total on cable television is also going up.
ABC has the highest amount with 10 out of 194, or 5.2 percent, of their regular characters identified as LGBT.

The attack against Americans continues.
This is true... Because I see Obama’s face every 5 minutes on the TV.
Gross.
I recently got word that someone I used to work with is so immersed in a gay lifestyle now. He is living in a hotel, cruising for anonymous sex on craigslist and spent months in jail on meth trafficking.
This guy was a husband with three children, a home and an amazing job which required an advanced degree.
Oh, did I mention he has transitioned from HIV+ to having full blown AIDS.
Yup. What a wonderful lifestyle.
I watch MeTV. All the old shows that you could watch as a family.
It all started in the 1970s with TV writer Susan Harris’ creation, Jodie Dallas.
Jodie spawned a large collection of “gay” characters over the years, and also started the movement toward greater acceptance of “gay” activist demands.
Harris thinks that anyone who opposes this is an “idiot” with a “medieval mind”.

Note how she thinks that the election of obama—just about the dumbest thing we’ve ever done—shows how Americans are getting “smarter”!!!!
Totally fictional characters. We’ll never see a realistic depiction of your typical homo: AIDS infected, on anti-depressant meds, beaten by his at-the-time “boyfriend,” and militantly angry all the time.
A vast wasteland...
For this reason, the only things I watch on TV anymore is Sports, History Channel & Fox News.
Almost 1/3rd of all media employees in the studios are gay. Agenda ?
YEP
Sad. But, again to my point. Information that we both could live without knowing.
Being gay is what they do. Not what they are.
I wish they had stayed in the closet. I will never accept any of that as normal behavior.
I always find it weird that in tv-land, average American young males wear sports coats and nice shirts even while lounging around. They talk in sort of hybrid gay-intellectual kind of way and are subservient to any females who are always wise and prescient. The males are usually semi-idiots who need strong women to show them how to navigate the world.
In the old tv days, we laughed at depictions of mothers wearing dresses and pearls while they did the housework. The dads wore ties even while they sat in the easy chair. Both descriptions of average Americans are faulty. But at least in the old days, girls were girls and men were men. Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again...oops, sorry.....lapsing into memories.
I started recording old reliable standbys like “Leave It To Beaver,” and “The Dick Van Dyke” show to show my kid. He whined about them being in black and white - at first - but he ended up enjoying them. This was in response to my coming home one day and finding my wife watching “Glee” with him. I instantly said “No,” and took him to the other room. So far as I know, she is respecting my rule for him not to watch that garbage. I told her I wanted him watching the shows I grew up on because they were still wholesome and clean. She thinks I am old fashioned but I really don’t give a crap.
Sorry to say but my smart, conservative wife watches that Housewives crapola, the queer house flippers, and every sissy dancing/idol/cooking show. I even caught her watching Kardashawhores the other night. She tries to flip channels when I come in for fear i will chastise her. I tell her I just don’t get it why she watches, she is too smart for it. She said it is her “release” from real life. I just shake my head and go back to the garage or study. She gets down right militant if I “hmm hmm” delete one off the DVR or un-program it to record before she sees it.
It is just sad, I pity her.
On the other hand complains about work place drama and the drama around teen-aged girls at our school (private btw).
I bought a box set of original Jonny Quest, 6 dvd’s of 3 stooges, every Little Rascals episode made, and Leave it To Beaver ( and some Brady Bunch and Gilligan )for my sons. The watched them tell they wore out.
My daughter loves I Love Lucy and Andy Griffin, but now at 15 I see her digressing with mom on some crap shows and it saddens me.
All you have to do is notice the commercials on NFL telecasts to see this trend. And almost all the reality shows have at least one flaming homo on them like there is a rule about it.
A few seasons ago, the Amazing Race had a series involving two snippy lesbians against a former beauty contestant and her boyfriend. Well, it came out that the show producers went to gay bars in Los Angeles and recruited the two lesbians who had shown no interest in being on the show and said as much in the exit interviews.
With all the thousands of “normal” people eager to come on the show and sending in their audition tapes, it bothers me that producers have to find others who don’t want to be on the show in order to fill their minority quotas.
If gays/lesbians want to be on reality shows and preen themselves as homosexuals on television, that’s their right but for the show to actively recruit them just seemed wrong.
There are some cable channels devoted to more-or-less wholesome programming (whether you'd label it conservative is another debate) but they certainly don't attract the ratings that other networks do.
The best explanation is that outrageousness and sex sells while stable marriages and families don't. We all are attracted to the train wreck more than the train that ran successfully.
I got my son into Jonny Quest when they were airing it on Boomerang. One of my favorite shows when I was a kid! Before he was born, I turned to my wife and said, “Your realize we will not even be able to watch prime time sitcoms with our kid in the room, right?” She agreed. It’s sad that Brady Bunch and Andy Griffin were once standard fare, and the fare now is.... mostly garbage. A reflection of a crumbling society.
It’s interesting that you mention The Brady Bunch. Robert Reed, the dad on the show, was a homosexual, but kept it pretty much to himself. Too many people define themselves by their sexuality, today.
