Obama pays price for ducking the questions
Washington Post ^ | Oct. 4, 2012 | Dana Milbank

Barack Obama received a valuable reminder in his drubbing at Wednesday night’s debate: He is a president, not a king.

In the hours after the Republican challenger Mitt Romney embarrassed the incumbent in their first meeting, Obama loyalists expressed puzzlement that the incumbent had done badly. But Obama has only himself to blame, because he set himself up for Wednesday’s emperor-has-no-clothes moment. For the past four years, he has worked assiduously to avoid being questioned, maintaining a regal detachment from the media and other sources of dissent and skeptical inquiry.

Obama has set a modern record for refusal to be quizzed by the media, taking questions from reporters far less often than Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and even George W. Bush. Though his opponent in 2008 promised to take questions from lawmakers like the British prime minister does, Obama has shied from mixing it up with members of Congress, too. And, especially since Rahm Emanuel’s departure, Obama is surrounded by a large number of yes men who aren’t likely to get in his face.

This insularity led directly to the Denver debacle: Obama was out of practice and unprepared to be challenged. The White House had supposed that Obama’s forays into social media — town hall meetings with YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and the like — would replace traditional presidential communication. By relying on such venues, Obama’s argument skills atrophied, and he was ill-equipped to engage in old-fashioned give and take.

Silly stuff as if the Lapdog Enemamedia would ask any non-trivial questions or not accept whatever BS he spews.

Clueless excuses for a media we have.

There is nothing The Disaster can do except float into the iceberg.

“He is a president, not a king.”

It is my perception that he is an arrogant, insolent, and petulant dictator, one who goes around Congress and the Constitution and does what he wants by edict. To him the executive order is the way of governing, not by working through the Congress, which supposedly represents the people.

He needs to be fired in November.

Coming from Dana Milbank, this is pretty amazing.

Give me a break! Who does Dana Milbank think he's kidding. Milbank's beloved MSM, including the WaPo, were utterly complicit in allowing Obama to avoid all questions, because they never asked any! THey coddled, him, they ran interference for him, they ignored stories that might make him look bad. There is no excuse for the utter propagandistic one sidedness of the so-called "professional" journalistic class in this country as regards their treatment of Obama. I think Tapper is just about the only MSM journo who at least tries to ask of the One the same sorts of questions they would ask of a Republican president. The MSM is beyond despicable.

HE has no positive achievements in four years. He isn’t bright or quick on his feet. More importantly, no one has ever called him a failure. Thus exposed as a failure, he melted. He lost the election last night.

Whether you like Mitt Romney or not, you have to admit he's been refined by fire. He got hammered by Teddy Kennedy in 1994, he got crucified by Juan McLame in 2008, and all the other candidates ganged up on him in the 2012 Primaries. To top it off, the left-wing, flag-burning, twinkle-toed bedwetting media pretty much attacked Governor Romney at every turn.

What came out last night was a man who has honed his skills and was tungsten steel as sharp as any razor.

On the other hand, the media fawned over Barack Hussein Obama (mmm mmm mmm), with every question pretty much being, "Master, may I rub your back?" (that wasn't the question REALLY asked...just the one that clean enough to put on Freerepublic).

I don't think Obama has anything left in his quiver. He may decide that he has to be "more aggressive", which'll mean that Valerie Jarrett will dose him with some extra Coke and he'll be in Romney's face at every turn. Like the first debate, THIS will backfire as well.

What nobody will admit, was that Romney made Obama his little B**ch.

ROFL. As if he ever had any "argument skills" in the first place. When you arrive in adulthood as a whiny, underexposed Marxist, I think it's safe to say that you left your argument skills in the elementary school playground.

Toward the end of the debate last night, it occurred to me that all the Obama employees in DC must have been flooding the interwebs with their resumes.

The writing is on the wall..resume writers and head hunters will be working overtime today. :)

Their day is over.

The enemedia should be ashamed. But they aren’t. They’re as self-delude as the boy-king.

Obama is not used to mano a mano’s. He’s a coward. For sure he will change his strategy tomorrow and act tough but since it will be an act it just might backfire.

And the funny thing was- as a conservative, I’m more moderate than my friends. Romney was my third choice. Most conservatives looked at Romney as their fifth or sixth choice.

Exactly. Barry has never faced pressure, in his senatorial races he took out the opposition through dirty tricks not man-to-man combat. He got through college on AA(and we still don't know his grades, if they were so great you can bet the media would have trumpeted them), he's never run a business, he's been insulated from failure all his life. He lives on Planet Obama.
