Mexico's Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA) confirmed that a shootout took place in the "peatonal" or "pedestrian shopping area" of downtown Reynosa on Wednesday afternoon.

SEDENA officials reported that soldiers were in the area when they came under fire from an unknown number of men.

Reynosa residents reported the gunfire on the social media network Twitter.

SEDENA officials reported that shootout ended with one gunman being wounded and five alleged kidnapping victims being rescued.

I had a buddy from college days who was from there - he had dual citizenship and went to school in McAllen across the bridge. Gosh, I spent a lot of time in Reyenosa helping out at his family business (tourist stuff) - things have changed a lot.

Why aren’t they reporting about the Casino that was bombed and then burned down with F&F *grenades*...? Cuz the whole program wasn’t just GUNS, ya know....

Whole bunch of them ran into a bathroom to get FRESH AIR —maybe 18 of them, all stacked up in there, dead.

Gulf Cartel is Obama’s cartel, BTW. He has that secret, “no busts for intel” arrangement with ‘em.

I’m SURE it won’t come up in a debate, though.

McALLEN –

SNIPPET: “Velasquez Caballero went from being a local car thief in Nuevo Laredo to being one of the most feared Zeta bosses in Mexico. He was arrested by Mexican marines working with intelligence from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosi on September 26, 2012, Mexican court records show.”

SNIPPET: “Velasquez was extradited to the U.S. in November and made his initial appearance on November 22; it remains unclear why the case was transferred to McAllen.”
