The air in planes is pressurized so that doesn’t help in acclimitizing to high altidue.

Aircraft pressurization is set to a pressure alitude of 8000ft, so yes it does.

When I’ve gone skiing in CO, it usually takes me a day to get acclimatized. Granted, that is at an even higher altitude than 5,000 feet.
