HURT: Obama the debater: Making Jimmy Carter look awesome
The Washington Times ^ | October 3, 2012 | Charles Hurt

Posted on 10/03/2012 8:59:25 PM PDT by Kaslin

Party like it’s 1980!

Bewildered and lost without his teleprompter, President Obama flailed all around the debate stage last night. He was stuttering, nervous and petulant. It was like he had been called in front of the principal after goofing around for four years and blowing off all his homework.

Not since Jimmy Carter faced Ronald Reagan has the U.S. presidency been so embarrassingly represented in public. Actually, that’s an insult to Jimmy Carter.

The split screen was most devastating. Mitt Romney spoke forthrightly, with carefully studied facts and details at the ready. He looked right at the president and accused him of being miles out of his depth.

Mr. Obama? His eyes were glued to his lectern, looking guilty and angry and impatient with all the vagaries of Democracy. This debate was seriously chaffing him.

What exactly was Mr. Obama’s strategy here? Did he figure with so many people unemployed in this abomination of an economy he should go for the sympathy vote? Like voters could relate to a guy who is just scared pantsless that he is about to lose his job?

In the middle of the blood-letting segment about jobs, Mr. Romney said good-naturedly: “This is fun.”

Actually..... I have to say it, Obunga did about as well as anybody could hope to do in a formal debate in which they were giving away thirty or forty IQ points.

But that's the problem. If the two men were more evenly matched, Obunga might hope to come back in the next debate, but they're not evenly matched. This was a heavyweight versus chickenweight fight, basically Joe Louis versus Little WeeWee Jones. A lot of people are probably waking up to the realization that they elected a chickenweight to the white house four years ago.

I think the recent videos, showing Obama to be a militant Leftist and race hustler, got to Obama.

The Right played with Obama’s head.

Obama wanted to look NON-Militant

And he came off looking like a wimp and a fool.

Bewildered and lost without his teleprompter.

It took him 4 years to notice?

Ronald Reagan would win.

Mitt Romney doesn’t have the street cred with the 3 out of every 1 Americans who are self-described conservatives.

I still can’t stand him.

Another way to look at it: Obunga got aced, laced- re-aced, disgraced, debased, effaced, and erased.

In 1960 I listened to the Nixon-Kennedy debate on radio and I was confident that Nixon won.. yes it is true what people say about that debate vis-a-vis radio v. TV

I have no TV so I listened on the radio tonight. I did not think that Obama won but I thought that he did pretty good and I could see how his supporters could claim victory.. I was surprised to see the disappointment posted on the web by so many Obama supporters..

then I saw a couple of video clips and I could understand the grieving from the Obama side about how poorly he did.

At least Obama did not seek his daughter’s advice like Carter did Amy.

Reagan would tell you:

Shut up
Grow up
Deal with reality!

Reagan ran against Ford, in the Primary, but then worked his tail off trying to help Ford, in the General.

What strikes me about the two men is that both came into the presidency with a “my way or the highway” approach. Carter didn’t even get along with his own party’s congressional leadership, and obama offers no coattails to his. Romney scored big points saying he’ll work with the Dems, because you have to if you want to get anything done.

I thought the same thing when I saw Romney debate McCain - I could never understand how the Republican party wound up with McCain instead of Romney.

Zero did the best he could...but he can’t run on his record, he’s unable to respond to a direct challenge and he can’t think on his feet.

He was both unprepared and uninspired. America deserves better and it showed tonight.

This was some middle management screw up getting called onto the carpet in the GM’s office. Romney had Obama’s last pay check on his desk and reamed him good for poor performance before firing his ass.

Absolutely loved it
