Well you live in safe red state, I live in a safe blue state. Ohio will decide the future of the country.
Most people I know there are down to earth, common sense people-—my mom too is back there-—plus many other relatives and friends.
Outside of Cleveland there aren’t that many libs. But...the unions.....still very strong in Ohio....they spew the classwarfare crap and remain the backbone of the Dem Party in Ohio. The hold that unions have in Ohio is what scares me. And they are very well funded and very well organized.
Romney-the-RINO is not what ANY Conservative would like to see in there, but the alternative is a vomit-inducer, for sure.
It was about 1.5 million out of 5.7 million cast. About 26%. I could see early/absentee push easily past 2 million maybe 2.5 million this year. Overall turnout will be lower than 2008 perhaps 5.5 million (my guess) because of voter roll clean-up/population loss/etc.
There's two more things that have changed in this election cycle for President.
1.)the state of Ohio has Republican Sec. of State in charge of the vote totals and Republican Governor to back him up..... instead of the Democrat Sec. of State and Governor in 2008.....and
2.)The Republican Sec. of State made sure that all the Ohio counties were sent a request for Absentee ballot form this election versus the Democrat party operatives only sending those absentee ballot request forms to highly democrat leaning or likely leaning counties like Cuyahoga and Franklin, Lorain, Lucas and Trumbull.
Now that the Rebuplican Sec. of State has made sure that the Republican leaning counties have an even chance to request those absentees it's translating into increases in Republican requests throughout the state.......and this is the caveat that the Democratic operatives within the state are hyperventilating over.......right now....they see the way the wind is blowing this time....and it's not in their direction.

Don't see this as good or bad news either way. I think Republicans do NOT trust the early voting system,or absentee ballots, maybe not the elections in general unless they walk in and cast a ballot. Republicans are probably holding off showing their hands until Election Day 2012. There is no WAY I would early vote if I was a Republican.
These numbers- assuming they are correct, which you’ve given me no reason to doubt- are quite impressive. The Dems have lower %s in all the counties where 2008 %s were given except for Trumbull and Jefferson counties. Any idea why these two stand out?

Dems always push early voting. There’s an article about the Dem chairman pushing this in Iowa. We also saw this in the early voting in Ohio in 2008, which the Dems lead in early numbers by a lot. This is quite the opposite that we’re seeing in absentee ballot requests in OH this time. The Dems are leading in their own counties but not enough to overpower the heavily Rep requests in the Rep-dominated countries (so far). The trend is continuing to look good...for us!
We’re always assuming Dem ballot requests end up as Dem votes and Rep requests end up as Rep votes. If Dems start voting Romney, look out! Also, 91% of ballot requests end up as real votes as ballot are returned.

Republican Secretary of State and Repub Governors
Actually in the old days balloting took place over a period of months.
I live in Iowa. We attended a Paul Ryan event a couple of weeks ago. The people were out in full force asking people to sign up to vote early. All the people that I heard said they wanted to walk into the polls and vote, not mail it in.
Those two counties are a little concerning. But 2,3, or 4 counties out of 88 that’s not too bad.
It’s hard for Republicans to find the time since more of them have multiple jobs and aren’t as used to going to the courthouse to apply for welfare.
I guess my question though is more why- I mean there’s not any big cities in those are there?
That’s true. I’ll have to see.
