Normally, Democrats would demand that companies considering layoffs tell their employees about it. In fact, Democrats passed a law requiring corporations to do so, the WARN Act of 1988, which they passed with veto-proof majorities and which became law without then-President Ronald Reagan’s signature.
These days, they’re pressuring companies to keep quiet about layoffs that will occur when sequestration kicks in, and Lockheed has buckled:

As it was, they just landed a fat maintenance contract at Cherry Point.
But we know we don't live in a free society, so that won't happen.
I agree. That's exactly what's happening.
We do not live in a Republic, we are not governed by rule of law. We are ruled by the whim of the Maximum Leader. We live in a Third-World despotism.
We just don't have the death squads.

When you’re a government contractor, the government basically owns you. You do exactly what they want you to do, and you smile while you’re doing it.
The government can put Lockheed out of business in a heartbeat.
LM has always been one of the best at aligning to the current administration desires. How else do you think the make money on programs that are overrun multiple times the contract value or have gone through Nun-McCurdy multiple times and still get win more contracts....
All this tells me is that LM has a strong belief that Obama will be reelected....

IMO, this makes it worse. How am I wrong? Tell ya what, when I worked at Boeing, the entire time I was there, there were rumors of layoffs around the corner, and rumors of rumors. They know it, believe me they know it. Even if it weren’t true, it’s true, we’re getting layed off. SMH

If employees think there might be a layoff, the company has no legal obligation under the WARN Act to notify them?
In which case Obama didn’t need to commit felony conspiracy with them to violate the WARN Act, and therefore Obama didn’t need to promise to pay for any legal expenses they might have from breaking Federal law, he just did it because he’s a nice guy?
So none of this really happened, right?
