Who were the idiots that thought something useful would come from talking with the Taliban?
It wasn't necessarily wrong talking to the Taliban. Most wars end at the negotiating table. What was wrong was making it clear that the negotiations were merely for the purpose of determining the terms of our surrender.

The combatants usually wear uniforms too. We are dealing with foes who wage a spiritual war and their #1 strategy is too deceive. How do you negotiate with the spirit world/their allah god, lol?
