Raleigh, N.C. Raleigh police have charged two people with murder in connection with a fatal shooting early Monday near North Carolina State University's Centennial Campus.
Quamir Alteriq Rogers, 21, and Twanisha Stewart, 27, are being held in the Wake County jail.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. in the 4000 block of Neeley Street, off Western Boulevard.
Raleigh police said officers responding to an emergency call about a shooting found Markeith Alexander Tennessee, 29, dead outside a home.
The incident prompted university police to send out an alert warning the campus community.
The alert, sent shortly after 1 a.m., said Raleigh police were searching for three assailants a black female wearing red pants and two black males wearing red hoodies.
The assailants fled the scene in a white SUV, according to the alert.
Raleigh police said they do not believe there is any danger to the campus and that the shooting does not appear to be random.
Residents on Neeley Street are shocked by the shooting, and several rushed to Tennessees aid after hearing gunshots.
"He had blood all along his shirt, so I lifted his shirt to see where he had been shot," said neighbor Stanley Hagins, who ran back inside his house to get a towel to stop the bleeding.
"He was breathing when I went out there, but when I put the towel on (the bullet wound), he stopped breathing," Hagins continued. "I checked his pulse, and he had no pulse, and that was, you know, kind of devastating."
Those who spoke to WRAL News said Tennessee was a polite and kind man who liked helping others and didn't have any enemies.
"He was a really good dude," Rover Qadourah said. "If you really needed it, he would look out for you.

How did I know?
Why are they so angry? Didn't they get their ObamaPhone?
Rover aside, there have always been incidents of people's getting into disputes and getting shot, which I assume is what is implied by, "The shooting is not believed to be random." Everyone just has crazier names now than they used to.
3 less votes for Obozo.
The most upsetting thing about this story is that when I went to NC State, everybody called me “Tennessee” .
Guys from across the mountain were very uncommon there
LMAO. They say if you cannot say anything good about the departed do not say anything.
This really good dude child molester is history and the two who shot him will go to jail.
That aint all bad.
But all three will still vote for BO.
Not true. The deceased will continue to vote the stright Democratic party ticket, and the perpetrators will vote via proxy - probably several times.
IF Odummer had a son...... I kinda see the resemblance.
Where do you get that he was a child molester?
From poster #4.
In view of post 4, it’s not the best time to claim the name.
I think you have the wrong person. This is from a local news report I found from Google:
'Except for traffic violations, Markeith Tennessee does not have a criminal record. He is the father of three sons and a daughter who range in age from 3 to 12, his family said.'I also checked the National and NC Sex Offender Registry database.
So I don't know where you got that he was a Sex Offender?
He wasn’t a Sex Offender, I checked the National database. Not one person with the name Tennessee is in there.
Ok, thanks for the additional information .
My bad.
I used a Google search and came up with that, but did not do any in-depth research.
I hot linked directly to the pic... so that's where it came up...
Ok, do you have any idea where he found that out, or are you just echoing something he made up (and amplifying it)?
I searched the NC Sex Offender Registry and the VA Sex Offender Registry and couldn't find anything.
Interestingly, there is a record of a fellow named Markeith from Tennessee with a sex-offender record, but that's not this poor young man.
Guilty. No excuses sir.
Uhh! why don’t you ask him where he got it?
Because you’re the one who jumped all the way to “child molester.” I had given you the benefit of the doubt and assumed that you wouldn’t have done that unless you had good information.
