For more than 50 years, the black community has been the wholly owned subsidiary of the Democratic Party. That may be changing. In spite of the overwhelmingly liberal voting patterns of black voters, they are an essentially conservative community. Americans of African descent are more pro-life and pro-family than the average white voter and as conservative on social issues as any white evangelical.

Democrats have managed to monopolize the black vote in spite of the vast chasm between the two on social issues. This philosophical difference has become more pronounced in the past 20 years, as liberals have embraced far-left progressivism. Their view of “social justice” embraces the killing of an unborn child right up to the moment before birth. Indeed, President Obama, the iconic representative of the far left, believes that even a child born alive should be left to die without medical treatment if the mother intended an abortion. He championed this Mengelean position as a state senator in Illinois.

I was raised to be an FDR Democrat because my father was a young man during the Depression and credited President Roosevelt with saving him from starvation. “The Republicans only care about rich people,” I was told. This was more than 40 years ago. In spite of my childhood indoctrination, as a young man newly committed to my Christian faith, I had a crisis of conscience in the late 1970s. Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank was pushing the homosexual agenda. How could I, as a Christian, be committed to a party led by Mr. Frank? In the end, I could not. My desire to be in a right relationship with God and my faith was greater than my desire to be approved by my father, my family or the black community. Yup, many are disappointed that he hasn't delivered on all his 2008 promises and will stay home. I've heard a lot on the local talk shows say they won't vote for that reason.

To my brothers and sister here on Free Republic. A long time ago I escaped from the Demoncratic plantation and I have been a better human being for it. Full disclosure I am an American that happens to be black. My skin color has never been a hindrance or an excuse in my life. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago in fact I was born at the University of Chicago Hospital not too far from where the President's Chicago residence is located. I grew up in a two parent household with a father that was a truck driver and a postal worker mother. I was educated in the Chicago Public School System and graduated from a Illinois University. Back when I was in grammer school they taught the three R's and Social Studies and Civics. I remember learning about the constitution and government at Horace Mann Elementary School while the Viet Nam war raged. It was the ass kicking Chicago Police Department bashing those hippie heads open in Grant Park in the summer of 1968 when the DNC was in town and Mayor Richard J. Daley administered the “Chicago Machine.” He was truly the last of the big city bosses. Those Democrats were a lot different from the egg sucking scumbags that they are today. The hippies in 1968 were the grandparents of the Occupy Wall Street losers, same MO same results.
The Democratic Party has screwed black people like a client in a whorehouse in Olongapo City, Philippines. If you libtards out there don't like what I am saying well read Gal 4:16 and get back with me. Here are a few more truths that the residents of Libtardia will not like. Every Democratically controlled city is in a fiscal crisis and some states as well, Illinois and California come to mind. Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Washington DC all ran by Democraps and all in the toilet. Look at the black unemployment and rates of homes that are ran by single mothers. Thank you radical feminists for selling black women that snake oil. Oh and our government is not blameless for when you take the father out of the home the family breakdown will ouccur in less than a generation.
Sen Daniel Patrick Monihan (D-NY) pointed this gem out in his book the “Crisis of the Negro Family.” So with all these forces attacking the black family you have a built in constituency that will vote for you even if you throw a few crumbs their way. I submit to you that this is the biggest case of Stockholm Syndrome in the world. No group of people on earth will agree about anything 90% of the time except when it is black and voting for democraps. Democrats ridicule evangelicals but their most loyal voters are the ones that go to church the most. How is that gay marriage thing working out for you? If fact most black people abhor the homosexual agenda and lifestyle to go with it. Now when you have a group of people that refuse to get educated and learn critical thinking skills that group will be lost. This is the state of black America today when you follow clowns like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Marion Berry, cheered when O.J. Simpson was acquitted then you are truly lost because they have all been disgraced and are amoral men. When you eschew hard work education and delayed gratification. When you listen to charlatans like Cornel West, Micheal Eric Dyson and Tom Joyner that say America is racist and yet they wear Brooks Brothers suits make a 7 figure income and appear on the national stage in that same racist country make me what to vomit. They are frauds because they would not have been that successful no where else but America. I have spent most of my adult life wearing the cloth of our great nation and I love my country because the richest Africanized people on the planet live in America and it is still the land of dreams and opportunity. Maybe, but I'm skeptical. Frank wasn't elected to Congress until 1980 -- not the late 1970s. So the author must have been an especially astute follower of state politics on Beacon Hill to even know who Frank was. Hey anything's possible, but if you were to leave the Democrat Party in the 1970s, would you really leave because of an obscure state legislator -- at a time when you could have stood against Dukakis, Ted Kennedy or Tip O'Neill? All of whom were equally liberal, and vastly more important and better known? The story makes no sense.

It would be shocking if E.W. Jackson didn’t know about Barney Frank long before you did, since Jackson graduated from UMASS-Boston in 1975 and from Harvard Law School in 1978, and stayed in the Boston area to practice law. Barney Frank was a state representative from a Newton district from 1973 until he was elected to Congress in 1980, taught part-time at UMASS-Boston in the early-to-mid 1970s, and was one of the best known liberals in Massachusetts state government throughout the ‘70s. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Jackson’s “crisis of conscience” during the late 1970s was spurred at least in part to seeing how someone with views such as Barney Frank’s was able to rise to power.

Blacks are not social conservatives, they are not the raving leftists that libertarians are, but they do support abortion for instance, by 67%.

BTW, I don’t doubt for a second that, had Frank lost in 1982 to Republican Congresswoman Margaret Heckler and had become a footnote in political history instead of a liberal icon, E.W. Jackson would have mentioned a different 1970s liberal as the poster child of why he switched to the GOP. But I have no reason not to take Jackson at his word when he says that Frank’s issue positions were a big part of his “cricis of conscience” during the 1970s.

As your post illustrates so well, it is the quality of conservative people that matter and not the identification groupings that the left likes to use to manipulate populations.

The black conservatives that I know are so far and away ahead of the average conservatives in passion that I count them 10 to 1.

The same can be said of conservative writers and thinkers that happen to be black — Sowell, Steele, and Walter Williams come to mind.

I want citizens to join our cause, the issues of sub-sets don’t matter unless I want to pander, and as a conservative that is not my game.
