The only reason Americans “need” an income tax or any other tax is because members of Congress — Democrats [and Republicans -Wrong] — have an insatiable desire to spend other people’s money.

The Republican US House voted to keep the tax rates the same (mostly on a party line vote), it is the Democrats who wanted higher taxes on the rich, but left a 50% federal tax increase on the working poor (taxable income of only $8600 single $17400 married) on the books.

And to add insult to injury, a Social Security tax increase of 30% (4.2% TO 6.2%) as well.
