I stand corrected. Thanks for being gentle.
Government finances and the banking sector seem very solid. There are two problems on the horizon. One is an overheated housing sector. This is mainly confined to Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary. Vancouver and Toronto have been "overheated" for 30 years so I guess everything is relative. I have always maintained that foreign buyers are driving those markets, to a large extent.
The other problem is that if our major export market contacts or the Canadian dollar rises too fast demand for our products will decline and the economy will slow. There is a way out of that one, consider the German or Swiss model. Can you imagine the German model with every natural resource imaginable, especially energy? Just like the post war USA. Wait a minute...

At any rate I love Canadians and frequently post the anthem on my facebook page as a tribute.
Have you read this?
Domestic agricultural resources also rate high with me. Canada has a strong agricultural sector. In other words we can feed ourselves and, keep ourselves warm and mobile, and run our factories farms and schools from domestic sources.
Another thing I love about FR. I live in Canada and NEVER read Ottawa Citizen editorials. You don't and are pointing one out to me regarding Canada's Iranian policy. Thanks.
Further to closing the embassy in Teheran. I know that diplomats as possible hostages was always a primary concern. The government really did not make that much of that aspect. After 1979, I have no doubt that the regime over there would have no qualms about taking Canadian diplomats hostage. If they can't get at Americans, they'll take the next best thing.
