According to the Federal Communications Communication, a program that gives free or subsidized phones to low-income people has doubled in the state of Ohio over the past year, to cover more than 1 million people.
The Dayton Daily News reports that the program cost the state of Ohio almost $27 million just in the first quarter of 2012. That was a more than $11 million increase from the same period the previous year.
Taxpayers are covering this program two ways: direct cash expenditures, and a raise in phone rates via the Universal Service Fund charge on phone bills.
No wonder so many voters in Ohio are supporting Obama. They are getting Obama phones.

That woman in the video is pretty disgusting, alright! But I wish some reporter (an objective one) would find her or it and see what she is like when not being used in a piece of contrived propaganda, however.
Fraud and abuse of the program should also be rooted out.
But when i consider what a lot of other taxpayer money goes for......this is not all that bad!
The election committee needs to investigate this to make sure these Obama phones can’t be used in nefarious ways... remember ? this election year the votes or some of the votes will be counted over seas.... no accountability.
If it cost the state money, is it a federal or state program? Kasich is governor there now, so has he had anything to say about this program?
I don’t think any of us have a problem with the phones going to disabled veterans. There’s a difference between someone who earned a benefit by serving their country and the 47%.
Depends if you consider Obama sending out his "tweet" on election day reminding his sycophants to go out and vote for him, or should I say telling them, since it's the first time most of them will be aware there's an election going on this year.

...the enrollment has grown nationally from 11.5 million participants in the first quarter of 2011 to 16.5 million in the same period this year. The number of eligible people is estimated at between 20 and 30 million, according to the Universal Service Administrative Company, which administers the program.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the program. I have a problem with abuse of the program. I saw a news report where one woman had 30 phones.

Wonder if those Obama phones have a toll free number to dial to Spain this year on election day ?
