Sorry about the miss spelling of earthquake.
Getting some big one's lately... up and down the Pacific coast.
To: American Constitutionalist
We’ve had recent big shakers pretty much all the way around the ring of fire except the left coast of the US.
Just sayin’...

Update 17:12 UTC : We do repeat that deep earthquakes who do originate in the solid hot mantle of the earth are mostly harmless. As every earthquake is different such an expectation is based on numbers only. Secondary effects like Rockfall and landslides may always cause damage and injuries (mainly depending on the weather conditions)
Update 17:17 UTC : Distance from the epicenter to the capitals of the 2 neighbouring countries Colombia and Ecuador is about the same (Bogota and Quito).
Update 17:20 UTC : Popoyan, a Colombian city close to the epicenter is reporting a light MMI IV shaking, which is a good sign

That Colombian city should be spelled Popayón. I simply copied and pasted it....and did not see the misspelling.

Let us know when the big one hits and we need to really worry.

Does anyone know of a good earthquake monitoring website?
The USGS used to have a good one but as is usually the case, people can’t leave well enough alone and now it is terrible.

Does the quake yesterday near Dallas TX count? That little thing? No, that does not qualify as an earthquake.
If something sitting on a shelf has not fallen over it is not a earthquake.

That is the one at USGS that I liked but it is being phased out for the new improved version.
This is the one that is being phased out. It was so simple and quick. Why does everyone think a website has to have every bell and whistle? Woe is me.

11.8 Mag ? yup, that's a BIG ONE....
The one that hit Indonesia in 2004 and Japan actually caused the earth to wobble.. now that's a lot of energy being released.

No thanks.
It's 90 degrees here - dry heat - with a light breeze. Lovely!
Prepared as much as possible for another earthquake. (Been through many).
