As Americas strategic and political position in the Middle East continues to deteriorate, President Barack Obamas political opponents have stepped up their claims that he is an ineffective leader on foreign policy.
But New York Times columnist David Brooks isnt convinced those attacks will work. During his weekly appearance on PBSs NewsHour on Friday, Brooks suggested Obama deserves a pass for remaining calm throughout the crisis, which he said puts a kind of burden on his challenger, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

He was so calm he went so far as to lie about them being attacks planned to align with the 9/11 anniversary. Now that’s a cool cat.
CALM??? He was practically narcoleptic! Not to mention his malevolent indifference.
I must admit that the calm, in the midst of all that lying, was extraordinary.
Meanwhile, liberal mainstream media types have stepped up their claims that David Brooks is a conservative.
Calm... I see.
And David, I’ll be his pants were perfectly creased during this whole “bump in the road” as well. Aren’t you impressed???
Staying calm and frozen w/fear because all his lies before his election about him knowing these people cause he is one of them, are two different things.
He is the dumbest, lying, shiftless, lazy, piece of shiite muslim white boi that ever became president.
The Press has been a colossal failure. They are no longer non vested, critical and informative. Instead they have devolved into advocate journalists. The worst examples are NBC news and the New York Times. The Middle East festers toward war which very well may kill many young Americans, the leaders of the region are all in New York last week, and our President has no time to meet with them to try a face to face diplomatic solution, but instead finds time to banter with David Letterman and Whoopi Goldberg. Where is the journalistic critique?
The American people are fixing to give the sob a pass too per Las Vegas oddsmaker that seem to always get Presidential elections right. Wonder why? Could it be because unlike a pollster they have their own money on the line? It’s a Reagan-Carter landslide they say:
The United States presidential election of 1980 featured a contest between incumbent Democratic President Jimmy Carter and his Republican opponent, former California Governor Ronald Reagan, as well as Republican Congressman John B. Anderson, who ran as an independent. Reagan, aided by the Iran hostage crisis and a worsening economy at home, won the election in a landslide, receiving the highest number of electoral votes ever won by a nonincumbent presidential candidate, and became the 40th President of the United States.
By the standard that David Brooks uses, Obama has to be the greatest president ever, and the greatest leader of all time.
We have massive poverty in the country, with the number of people going on food stamps doubling, and people losing their jobs to the tune of more than 20% “real” unemployment, and the national debt is over $16 trillion and climbing, the national deficit is, on a yearly basis, more than $1 trillion, businesses are still closing and still more people are getting laid off, gas prices have more than doubled, people are still losing their homes, and home prices are still about half of what they were four years ago, we are losing our jobs and businesses to other countries, we are not allowed to dig and drill for out own energy sources, we are having our embassies attacked and our embassy people are getting killed, and...
and...
this president can sleep very soundly at night, and go on a permanent campaign with nothing to worry about, and can go golfing as if he were on a permanent vacation, can go on the day and nigh talk shows, parties it up in the White House with celebrities and friends, and...
and...
shows major indifference, because...
apparently, he is able to keep cool and pretend that, there are no problems in the country or in the world...
and then...
we are going to be told that, the president deserves a lot of credit because of his coolness????
Narcissist is the best word to describe this idiot in the White House.
This is one president that, the country and the world would be much better off without, and, having no president at all would have been a million times better than that idiot who has made things a lot worse for the country and the entire world.
But, along with the narcissist-in-chief, we also have a lot of masochists around the country, who will vote to retain him in power, no matter what.
This election boils down to one question; that being “are you pulling the wagon or riding in the wagon”? That’s all you need to ask....
The reaction was from fear....... fear for his own sorry ***** ass
I think there is something to this. If he was running around having press conferences giving serious address to the nation in prime time. I think the American people would be more alarmed about what happen because he would be elevating it.
I guess David Brooks also believe that President Bush acted with calm in the wake of Katrina.
See this is what happens when a campaign ignores the likability of the opposing candidate. No matter what Obama says or does, people will give him a pass because he’s “a nice fella”. But Obozo isn’t a nice fella. He’s a cold, calculating politician and the inept, milquetoast Romney campaign refused to define him as such thinking that they could just ride the crappy economy to victory. Where are the ads with the poor blacks kicked out into the cold by Obamas slumlord buddies? Where are the videos contrasting the riots in the ME with Obamas stck of $800 champagne? Where are the ads calling out The Obama campaign on their lies about Obama growing up poor? It’s hard for people to like a cold-hearted, aloof liar.
Like when Roosevelt spoke to the Congress the day after Pearl Harbor and Bush to the world after 9/11? Yeah! We need to be alarmed for God's sake. We are in a war for our survival!
David Brooks has mush for brains
He probably went out for an ice cream treat as well.
