The epic battle between American Freedom Defense Initiative executive director and blogger Pamela Geller and The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) culminated with a court decision that forced the transit authority to permit the display of controversial ads about radical Islam. But the story didnt end there. As TheBlaze reported this morning, Gellers case caused the MTA to rethink the manner in which it handles First Amendment issues, leading to the adoption of some potentially-controversial measures.
On Friday, TheBlaze spoke with a spokesperson who confirmed some of the details surrounding the case, while clarifying the new changes that passed on Thursday. As noted, one of the emergent provisions that was added into the public companys advertising standards in the wake of the Geller debate allows the MTA to deny ads it deems could incite violence.
As previously noted, a document, reflecting yesterdays changes, was released by the MTA to TheBlaze this morning. It highlights the transit authoritys advertising standards and reads, in part, The licensee (advertising contractor) shall not display or maintain any advertisement that falls within one or more of the following categories. One of the category sections reads:
The advertisement, or any information contained in it, is directly adverse to the commercial or administrative interests of the MTA or is harmful to the morale of MTA employees or contains material the display of which the MTA reasonably foresees would incite or provoke violence or other immediate breach of the peace, and so harm, disrupt, or interfere with safe, efficient, and orderly transit operations.

Are they just afraid of the Muslims?
I always thought California was going to be the first state to go Sharia
"Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."
Anti-blasphemy laws managed by the Mullah Transportation Authority.
So I guess they’re saying that muzzies have tendencies toward violent reactions.....
And the lesson learned is that violence works.
ACLU will be right on this as soon as the 10 commandments get posted on the bus.
They are smiling with joy.
The leftist ACLU is like all on the left -- hearts filled with pure evil and with a lust for absolute power.
The death-knell of free speech. Anything and everything can incite violence—from “Please don’t walk on the grass” to “Jesus Saves.” Never mind that the da** film had nothing to do with the murder, the embassy attacks, or the demonstrations!
Who would have thought that New York would be the first to fall to Sharia.
I always figured Detroit.
I guess that means no Republican campaign ads............
Your comment has been noted and you have been counted.
You are Thought Criminal #27483309
Write down your number and report to the local Kommissar at the nearest railroad station.
Dont forget to bring warm clothes and a shovel.
Pam Geller will be all over this.
An obvious attempt to evade a court ruling.
So no more anti-Christian ads?
remember the atheist group than ran ads?
Fixed. NYC needs to read up on the First Amendment, specifically "chilling" free speech.
I suggest staging fist fights over commercial ads like Calvin Klein’s and other corporate advertising. Make it impossible for anyone to advertise and see how fast this gets reversed.
Obama: “Hmmmm MTA? Hot damn! take this down. Executive order Number dot dot dot. . . Internet postings and opinions aired on radio talk shows that are directly adverse to the social or administrative interests of the world community or are harmful to the morale of the world’s peoples or contain material the display of which the United States government reasonably foresees would incite or provoke violence or other immediate breach of the peace, and so harm, disrupt, or interfere with safe, and orderly . . . .”
We could use all the MSM articles about violent, racist, "tea baggers" spitting on Nagy Piglousy and shouting racist remarks at others as justification. Maybe even some of the ones where the Tea Party was initially blamed for things like crashing small planes into IRS buildings.
Their agitprop could be used against them.
They better not put up any ads with Sarah Jessica Parker trying to look sexy. If they do, I will take out an entire train of innocents!!!
