the US Presidency is an imperial one -- always has been.

You might want to read up on that. Start with George Washington. He and his family had people stopping by their farm (a lot). They were treated as guests and fed and housed.

Many of the guests remained over night, or for several days, and the servants were kept busy preparing rooms for visitors. no, of course not Washington -- but come on, you can't compare any Pres to G.W -- not even Reagan the Great

I'm talking of the rights and privileges an American president has, compared to other places where the power is normally shared between a President and Prime Minister.
