On Tuesday, Fox & Friends invited former documentary filmmaker Erick Allen Bell back on the program to continue a discussion about a political conversion he underwent while making a film about the construction of a large mosque in Tennessee. Bell set out to make a film about the religious intolerance of southern evangelicals but he says what he discovered about radical Islam while making the film forced him to reconsider his preconceptions. "The liberal media, which I didn't believe existed before this -- I thought that was invented by Rush Limbaugh there is a liberal media," said Bell. "And they do have a bias. They're not interested in this story."
"I wrongly thought that the opposition to the mosque was about evangelicals wanting to maintain the home court advantage and just not wanting another religion to have such a big facility in their town," said Bell. "Sure enough, there is no such thing as radical Islam -- it doesn't exist. Islam is radical. Muslims, fortunately, in America mostly -- not radical. But Islam is radical to the core."
Bell says he set out to write over 100 blog posts for the liberal site Daily Kos outlining some facts that he felt most people did not know about Islam on issues like freedom of religion, the rights of women and gays. "I was told I was right-wing and an Islamophobe for pointing these things out," said Bell.
Fill-in co-host Eric Bolling asked Bell how he felt he was being treated by the liberal media after he had his epiphany.
"Well, they don't return my calls," said Bell. "They loved me when I was saying that this was a civil rights issue. The only media that's paying attention to this issue when I present facts scary facts -- are the conservative media."
Bell said he did a one hour pre-interview with National Public Radio but they declined to air a report on his film.
"Why is that," asked Bolling.
"I think it's hard to admit when you are wrong," said Bell. "There's a perceptive disability that a lot of liberals have. When I say Islam, they hear Muslim. So if I say 'I'm against Islam,' they hear 'I'm against Muslims,' which sounds like hate speech. And the last thing that NPR wants to do is engage in what they perceive to be hate speech."
Spoken like a Rino elite! Sniff...
Well I would be sooo upset. lol
He’s noticing now how tough life is for conservatives vs when he was a liberal. I hope he has strong convictions. We desperately need filmmakers on our side.
Cheers!
I am glad he makes that point for two reasons 1) tens of millions of Muslims in Turkey where I lived for about a year on the civilian economy in Ankara do not like Islamism (political Islam, sharia law) and 2) a liberal's "perceptive disability" explains why liberals cannot distinguish between legal immigration and ILLEGAL aliens (businessmen who love that "cheap", taxpayer-subsidized labor can but don't care it is about $$$$).
Actually you have to qualify that.. the mentally retarded and the handicapped sons and daughters.. there are millions available in Islamist societies. google, inbreeding Islam. To wit,
Danish psychologist Nicolai Sennels:
. . . close to ninety percent [of the suicide bombers were] suffering from severe illness such as blindness, cancer, missing limbs or leprosy. Many Muslim societies . . . have a low social acceptance of handicaps and severe illnesses . . . being physically handicapped or mentally retarded often leads to exclusion . . . and becoming a martyr might be the only chance of achieving social recognition and honour if not just a way to end the pain of being socially isolated (which is especially traumatizing in collectivist cultures like Islam). Al Qaidas use of people with Downs syndrome might be another unpleasant side effect of the many chromosomal illnesses resulting from inbreeding between first cousins. People with low intelligence (because of inbreeding) might also be easier to brainwash with fundamentalist Islam
.. it just occurred to me! That's why the dailyucss crowd protects Islamists.. they're family!
Juan Williams? I hear him as a guest on conservative talk radio.. I think he'd be more likely to join dailycuss or mediasmatters.
My reply #26 states my honest opinion vis-a-vis Islamism (political Islam, sharia law) and the everyday "westernized" Muslim that was the goal and accomplishment to some degree of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk when he founded the modern Republic of Turkey in 1923.
Yes, things are changing as the Islamist AK Party with the help, some say, of Fethullah Gülen founder of the Gülen Movement currently a U.S. citizen and living in Pennsylvania with scores of his followers. He is very active over there now; he fled Turkey in the 1990s when Islamism was not allowed in the secular government of Turkey. Now Islamists seem to be trying to force an Iran-style Islamic "republic" on the 40+ percent of Turks who do not want it.
He still is a leftist but he’s an honest guy.
Leftists were they to visit any Muslim country would be appalled. It’s more about bringing down the system and “the enemy of my enemy” than any rational thought on the subject.
Brits on the left brought in Muzzies to water down the white / conservative vote. Now they don’t want to live in the country they helped destroy.
And I'm sure that's the first time he's seen that particular tactic used....
I'll save my pity party for when he outs his former "comrades" for this practice so endemic of the left.
This is great news. I hope there will be more to see the truth, although from how he is being treated, it looks like far too many don’t want to see the truth.
A shamshir does not differentiate between a liberal neck and a conservative neck.
It would behoove liberals to realize this.

wow, that was impressive!
This is a critique of an ideology an ideology that is inherently hostile to democracy, free speech, freedom of the press, womens rights and other fundamental human rights principles that all progressives should support wholeheartedly. Islam’s brutal subjugation of women should be reason enough to make all liberals unite in heated opposition to it. (And the fact that this has not happened indicates that something very strange and unlikely is going on here, between Islam and the political left.)

It blew me away. I wonder how long he will continue to call himself a progressive.
i wonder if he can peel off any other progressives so that they may also see the light?
