Liz Warren on tomahawk chop video: Cut it out! (And: Brown calls her to task on corp work)
Boston Herald ^ | 9/26/12 | Chris Cassidy and Hilary Chabot

Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren says she was “appalled” at a video that appeared to show supporters of U.S. Sen. Scott Brown — including at least one staffer — performing war whoops and tomahawk chops, saying if one of her campaign workers did such a thing there would be “serious consequences.”

Asked whether she was appalled as an American Indian, Warren told reporters: “I am appalled as an American.”

“I think everyone knew what he was up to,” said Warren, who has been dogged by a growing scandal over her unsupported claims of Cherokee heritage and her professional claims of minority status. War whoops and tomahawk chops — used by fans of some sports teams — are seen as demeaning to American Indian. Brown did not commit to any disciplinary action against the staffer, but said there was no place for the behavior in his campaign.

ALSO, from Chris Cassidy: GOP Sen. Scott Brown this morning demanded Democrat Elizabeth Warren release a full list of the corporate legal clients she has represented while she has worked at Harvard University, a day after the Herald reported Warren had represented a steel conglomerate that was fighting a court ruling to pay out benefits to its retirees.

“Voters deserve to know your full involvement in these types of cases,” Brown wrote in a letter to Warren, which was released this morning. “Therefore, I am calling on you to provide a complete accounting of your corporate legal clients during your years at Harvard.”

Brown called Warren “the only candidate in this race who has stood on the side of large corporations over the middle class,” and claimed Harvard Law School requires faculty to report outside activities.

“There is a list, and it does exist,” Brown said. “You’ve compiled it before, and you’ve provided it to your employer. I believe the voters of Massachusetts — for whom you seek to work now — are entitled to no less a standard of transparency than what you provide to Harvard each year.”

Warren plans to hold a general media availability later this morning at Joseph’s Bakery in South Boston to receive the endorsement of the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.

They are just some Braves fans who happen to live in Massachusetts. The Atlanta Braves were once upon a time a Boston team.

Among the Cherokee people, there is the legend of THE GREAT WHITE JACKASS. The Cherokee name for this animal is WHATALYINTHIEF. The legend says that when this animal appears, many weasels will accompany her. She will bray like the sound of the wind through the canyon. Or maybe that’s like the sound of the elk after eating too much clover. The skunks will honor her for the stench she creates.

A friend of mine’s father—the father is prob in his 80s by now—is a Braves fan, in Salem, MA. Years ago I visited my friend and his dad had the Braves on TBS. “Oh, I was a Braves fan when they were here and stuck with them through the
moves.”
(Similarly there are a few New York football Giants fans in parts of New England—going back to the days when either the N.E. Patriots weren’t around, or the Pats got blacked out on TV but the Giants were not.)

Is this any worse than Lizzy’s trying to make an issue out of Scott posing for some magazine to raise law school tuition money?

“Asked whether she was appalled as an American Indian ...”

Now THAT’S truly funny, and hard to believe something like that got asked or made it into print.
