Alright, did this guy seriously also denounce his statement, that a woman’s body prevents pregnancy in cases of rape? If not, the Missouri race is in a deep trash bin. Alright, I am not even a woman, but I wonder what a woman would think if he thinks that a pregnant woman who asked for an abortion and reported rape, somehow lied because rape shouldn’t impregnate, rape can do everything from cause pregnancy to spread STDs, and that’s a serious issue. A little word of advice for a political candidate: stick to saying that instances of rape justify an exception to the abortion rule, rather than make up something that is totally refuted by science.

eerie silence from the Republican establishment

Monday former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich predicted major GOP funding for Akin would return by mid-October. Tuesday, conservative commentator and author Phyllis Schlafly of St. Louis agreed. “Romney needs Missouri and to try to split the ticket like this Romney is going to be the chief loser on that,” she said during an Akin rally in downtown St. Louis.

An independent organization that supports conservative candidates with advertising on cable, radio and the web announced its support for Akin. The ads will begin airing Thursday. The Freedom Defense Fund is promising a $250,000 expenditure independent of the Akin campaign. The political action committee describes itself as “dedicated to the protection of liberty from big government advocates of either party.” Under federal law the FDF cannot discuss or coordinate its efforts with the nominee’s staff.

This guy was a long-term congressman with a splendid conservative record.

He got hammered for ONE minor gaffe. And the RINO establishment all jumped on the Democrat express and helped bash him.

What gets me is that there is still anyone in FreeRepublic who falls for that trash.

As for Reince Preibus of the RNC, who is denying him funding, **** him and the horse he rode in on.

SUPPORT THE CONSERVATIVE! He has one of the best records of any Republican in the House.

I absolutely cannot stand the way the Republicans form a circular firing squad instead of circling the wagons.

Todd Akin is a great example for young Americans. A natural leader, he remained true to conservative principles despite enormous pressure from nearly every Democrat and Republican liberal in this country. He single-handedly took on and whupped Karl Rove and the entire GOP establishment.

He’ll have no trouble whupping his Democrat opponent.

As the deadline to withdraw from the November general election ballot passed, Missouri’s Republican party issued a statement saying it will support Akin along with all the other Republican nominees on the ballot.

OK RNC, YOU'RE NEXT!! WHAT WILL IT BE?

Let’s have some sense of perspective here: Akin said a dumb thing- he learned a lesson and apologized. Obama, OTOH, skipped security briefings and now an ambassador and other Americans are dead- Obama has never apologized, and he continues to change his excuses every week.

Which is worse?...

If the GOP establishment is against him then the guy MUST be ok in my book. He mis-spoke, he apologized. End of it. I see most of the comments here are against him. Are you people insane?

Who hasn’t spoken out of turn? This election is not just about one issue, it is about many issues....the main one is cutting obama’s legs off at the knees just in case he gets reelected. We need a strong conservative congress to do that.

Not going to send Akin a penny. If he shows up dead, don't come looking for me.
